Got my plant display stand for Ali's babies

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

It finally came. I wasted no time in re-decorating either. I gathered my cutest vintage pots and put all of Ali's babies that she gave me while on my visit in them.

I actually ordered the two half circle end shelves that match, but should have measured first. They dont fit in my bedroom. not to worry, I'm sure I'll find a home for them! LOL.

Fabulous....love the pots and the violets.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Fancy!

Very nice. I have yet to decide what to buy for mine. Every thing is so dang expensive- I hate that I gave up my trust fund and divorced my parents, the Rockefellers!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I've seen that shelf and have considered it for my basement. I love your pots!!

Abilene, TX

Love the whole thing together, shelves and pots and plants. It is great, and what are the little figurines on top? Pam

Lilburn, GA

That is soooooo gorgeous!!! like Pam, I am curious about the little dolls.

Denver, CO

Excellent.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Stunning Laurie ! What's on the top shelf ? Can plant go there also lol :))
Now a question of course will the bottom shelf get enough light for lots of growth and blooms !
Everything looks so nice. I am flattered you bought this stand and used your Special pots for displaying plants I gave you ! Can't wait to see them all blooming ! If they could just all bloom together ! Your stand is so stunning it looks nothing like the picture. Maybe they could pay you to use your pictures !

Silver Spring, MD

I love the look., Is it rod iron?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Gorgeous Laurie :) Where on earth did you find that?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Lorry the link is above and the item number is 34-469 I can't paste the link directly to the item for some reason it doesn't work.

try this see if it works this time.

Just wish I had room for both of the half circle side shelves too. Guess they'll go elsewhere. Perhaps my playhouse.

Pam, those little planters on the top shelf are from the Shawnee pottery compay. Most are the little 'Coolie - Rickshaw' planters, all are from around the 1950's or so. Easy to find on eBay for about $5 -$10 each. (colorful ones on the right)
Shawnee made other planters too, the ones on the left are also by Shawnee but are a different style.

Here are some on ebay, you have to type in the item # since links don't seem to work on Daves

7400716575

7401129465 (perfect for a mini or mini trailer) I have a few like this in various forms.

Anyway you get the idea. Lots of fun cheap vintage pottery on eBay if you know how to look. I wont generaly spend more than 8 or 9 dollars for one since they come up all the time and I've even found some for about $2 I don't get too excited and in one of those bidding frenzies (begonias only) I see them all the time.

fun thing is too that depending on your style and taste there seems to be planters/vases for all different kinds.

Nanna, I think its called powder coated metal. It's kind of that soft coating over some kind of metal. It came in a big flat box and I put it together (in about 3 minutes) very easy. The metal trays cost extra, but since it's in my bedroom I don't want to spill water on the wood floors. (even though we've had a flood run through there before! LOL) If I had it outside, I wouldn't use the trays.

Ali, this spot gets some of the best light in my house. It's diffused by the shade, never bakes in the summer, gets light all day, but in the latter part of the afternoon, it gets plenty of light. I also have a lamp to suppliment since it's winter (not for long though I see green sprouts on my lilac and clematis too) and the days are shorter. The only thing I had to do was put some extra weather strpping in the window behind due to a draft. Don't want the babies getting a chill. Our house is so darn old and there are cracks and air leaks all over. But since they are so close I wanted to prevent drafts from blowing over them.

I guess I could put plants on the top shelf, since it's already at my eye level I never thought to put them up there. Hmmmm...

p.s. here's one of the pots I have on the bottom shelf. ebay item 7399729275
they come in two or three sizes. perfect for slipping a 2.5" pot into.

they are beautiful , great set-up. I am honored to have babies i grew on such a special stand and in special pots !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

The pots are great!

Silver Spring, MD

Very cheery pots.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I think I'm drawn to the colors in them, they are so fresh to me. (even though they are nearly 40-60 years old)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow, who would have thought that w/ those colors they'd be that old? Doubley nice!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Their made very nice !

What a beautiful plant stand! And I love the pots! I want to get another stand, but I've got to make room for it first. I think I'll start with getting the aquarium ready, and put the shelf off til later. My husband can only stand so many of my crazy ideas at once! LOL

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

yea April, go have a cruise throug eBay search for
McCoy flower pot
Shawnee planter
McCoy, Mc Coy etc. it's a good way to get into trouble!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Simply stunning ;) I just may have to con Chris into letting me buy that stand :) I LOVE it :)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh and that little strawberry pot is to DIE for :) too cute :) I just adore your pottery!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

You could grow little trailers or epscias in that cute little Strawberrie pot :))

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I thought about that Ali, that's why I bought it but no drainage hole and I was afraid to over water babies in there. Now that my thumb pots are here, I think I can make a set up where I put some gravel inside and then set the thumb pots in so that they never sit in too much water. I have another hanging pot. Now, if only I had a trailer like Nanna's Stickey Wicket to cut apart and put little babies in thumb pots.!

I need to start a hunt for mini trailers, all different kinds to put in there. Perhaps when the Chimera trailer you gave me is bigger and can afford a snip, I'll make a start for the top hole with it.

I love the stand Lorry, wish I had room for the two end pieces to make it complete. I can fit one on the left if I move that little plant stand/table but not on the right. I have a very old secretary desk there that I'm afraid has no other home at the moment. It may find a home in the liv. room at some point.

Shall I nudge Chris for you? He's so cute and he adores you so I'm sure you wont have to work too hard to get him to say yes! (wink)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Uh huh..that is what I was thinking :")
Actually I have seen the plain terra cotta ones at my local nursery. I may just have to pick one up but I like hers better :)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm thinking 'Pixie Runaround' for the strawberry pot and I already have tiny wood trail. Just need to pick a few more.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Did you get it on ebay?

I have honeysuckle rose (trailer) I can send you a baby of
Sweet sam (trailer) since I am an idiot and divided it out LOL
I know I have other trailers too if you need them :)

Abilene, TX

Thanks, I enjoy doing the whole things, not just the plants. Finding bargain pots, rearranging, labeling, etc, etc...... : )

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

the pot or the stand? I got the stand at the gardeners.com link above and the pot on eBay. do a search and you'll find several. there's a blue one like this one for bid this week. (I think)

thanks for the offer on the trailers, you know I won't say no! What can I trade ya?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

How about the little Ramblin's Lace I gave you Laurie ?

I have Ramblin' Midget too would be good I could send you !

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I did a search for strawberry pots but I didn't get anything like that in there :)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)
