Just some photos.

Here are a couple of Optimaras I got at the local Big Box store a couple weeks ago.

Near as I can figure the first is Optimara Louisiana and the second is Optimara DaVinci.

You like?

Violet, is it da vinci??? It is very similar to Dali.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Optimara has so many look alikes. So many that look like Dalia. But if you saw FC two pictures of Dali does not look like Dalia at all.
But sure could be close to Optimara DaVinci
Optimara Louisiana there are even two which optimara gives two FC numbers.
Optimara has so many look alikes without tags is hard 100 percent.
Optimara Louisiana (6567) 05/25/1987 (Holtkamp) Single light pink ruffled. Medium green, plain. Standard
andOptimara Louisiana II (6959) 11/19/1988 (Holtkamp) Single-semidouble light pink two-tone/darker eye, variable darker edge. Medium green, plain, heart-shaped to ovate, hairy. Standard

Like was mentioning Optimaea can be crazy.

Crazy!

My Dali isn't a Dali then but a Davinci. I must have mislabelled it.

thank you Violet!

They are beautiful. I love Optimara Pallet Series.

This is Gauguin. They have very similar bloom patterns.

Beautiful Nanna ! There are several similar . It's always hard with Optimara who is who and go to FC and see two different pictures both looking different. lol
All those plants are beautiful. Who's in the back left Nanna ?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

OK want to see the two pictures for Optimara Gauguin
from First Class ? Well I'm going to show you. lol
Optimara Gauguin (8311) 12/14/1995 (Holtkamp) Single white star/dark lilac patches. Medium green, plain, hairy. Standard

They are all beautiful!

Silver Spring, MD

OK. Mine is not Gauguin because the patches are not lilac they are red. In Optimara's definitions red patches describes DiVinci.

Allison, what does FC say about DiVinci.

In the back are stickey wicket on the left and mississippi on the right. The mississippi blooms look almost chimira don't they.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Optimara DiVinci never got registered . It's not in FC
But your's sure looks like a nice red with cameras it's have to tell but your's looks more read than Don's does. lol His looks Like lilac or it's just my eyes ?
Oh my your Rob's Stickey Wicket is out of this World Spectacular ! I was just reading how trailers need more light and more food. Especially Standard trailers their heavy eaters. Your is happy for sure ! Maybe you'll have a few trailers you can show ! They say don't ever dis-bud trailers though.
Optimara mississippi is another of Optimara's that there are two of. Why they don't give the second one a name. lol
Your's reminds me some of my Ness' Cherry Smoke only different colors I love it so much.
Your blossom has the colored edge so pretty. Ok First class for Optimara Mississippi (6576) 05/25/1987 (Holtkamp) Single white/dark pink frilled edge. Medium green, plain, glossy. Standard
I'll do FC picture here and do number two after. Your's is much more beautiful. I think we all need to be sending out pictures in to FC and AVSA Photo gallery and magazine !

Just love your Mississippi, Nanna. Gorgeous!

It's definitely the 1987 mississippi. The colors are more vivid though, especially with this blooming. They used to be a little lighter. Every once in awhile there is a solid pink bloom but most of the time they are as in the picture. My plant is now about 6 years old and blooms all the time. I have dropped it and smashed all the blooms and most of the leaves and it still comes back. I just prumed it down to get rid of broken and cracked leaved from the last fall. My new name should be fumblefingers or something like that.

I was reading on Rob's sight this morning and think I am going to repot SWicket. The trailing is almost to the bottom of the 4" pot. I think I am going to a 6" pan pot. I will have to order it. AA Trail is also growing like mad but is just beginning to bloom. I think I will wait to repot that one until this fall.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I love the pan pots. I have not bought larger than 5 inch though as their sizing is different and their a good size just not as deep. I have hugh plants in this size.
I had to buy some 5 inch azela pots as my Guelph's Christmas (9120) 04/20/2002 (J. Brownlie/Guelph University) Semidouble-double fuchsia large frilled star/thin white-green edge. Medium green, quilted, glossy, wavy, serrated/red back. Large
was in a 4 inch with lots of root hanging down and even wrapping around the wicks. I most time use two wicks for large pots ! Where I order them from I think I had to buy min. 25 and I don't grow a lot of large plants I like Minis. But I needed one. I am so glad I ordered the 5 inch azela pot instead of the 6 inch. You would not beleive how much larger the 5 inch pot was from the 4 inch ! Was perfect and gave my root bound plant lots of room top bottom and sides to grow into new fresh soil !

Silver Spring, MD

Maybe I will go to the 5 inch first. Thank for the suggestion. Here is a picture of Sticky Wicket. I got her from Rob in July 2005 in a 2" pot. That same order I got Ma's Debutante as well and Raspberry Rampage. All three are doing very well.

Nanna, I dream of having a trailer look like that! Sigh!
Just lovely!

Silver Spring, MD

Honestly it grows itself. I just look at it every day and say you're beautiful.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I gave most of my Sticky Wickets away. lol Have one left I promised someone have to check list.
Nanna hope to be able to ship your plants soon depending on weather. I am looking for three nights in a rwo over 45 degrees. I can send you a 5 inch pan pot so you can try and see if it's a good size. I think I only paid like 35 cents or so each for them . I meant to order white and forgot and got greens as they have both. But if you decide to show a trailer or gessie it can be in any pot just other Av's need white pots.

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

That Sticky Wicket is a beauty alright.

Don

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Nanna can sure grow those trailers :))

Silver Spring, MD

Thanks, Don

Allison, thank you so much for adding the 5 inch pan pot to my box. I have about 8 very small sticky wickets now growing. The best is yours if you would like it. They seem to take their time at first but then they just take off. Can't wait to see all the goodies in my box.

I finally got the courage to repot Deer Path Trail. There was a 4 inch leg that supported the plant. I cut it off and scraped about 1 1/2 to 2" and repotted the main plant. The root ball with the rest of the leg (which had a tiny crown coming) I planted in a seperate pot. My fingers are crossed that both will grow. The bell-like blooms of delicate pink are just beautiful. It would indeed be sad to loose the plant.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

wonderful pictures folks! Nanna i love your trailers. So beautiful!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Nanna but I have a good size one I promised someone. lol I always have to look at the list when I ship. I've grown so many of them just impossible to keep them all but Thanks.

Lilburn, GA

Nana, that trailer is so beautiful. Is it a standart or semi? what size pot do you use for it?

Well first clue Rob only progates Mini's and Semi-minis :)) So Standard plant is diffidently out. lol
Trailers size are not determined like reg. African violet plants. Their size mini, Semi-minis, standards..
With trailers it's by leaf size and a Minature African violet trailer can be grown as large as a Standard size trailer but the leaf size will be mini size . Also nice you can keep it groomed to the size plant you prefer !
Rob's Sticky Wicket (6467) 01/27/1987 (R. Robinson) Semidouble light fuchsia. Medium green, pointed. Semiminiature trailer

Silver Spring, MD

Thanks Allison. I knew you would come thru
