Has any one heard of the old wives tale, You can`t fool a Pecan Tree.
My DH has always said that the Pecan tree will not leaf out till all danger of frostis over(for the past 8 years he`s been right).Well our Pecan Trees are leafing,Has anyone else noticed any of the Old Wives Tales of Spring showing signs?

I have noticed that pecans are late to put out leaves and blooms. Everything else will be quite green including the grass in the pecan orchards, while the pecans stand stark and leafless.

It'll hold most years, but they're not infallible.
Pecans & black walnuts are among some of the latest to leaf out, but I recall one year, about 3 or 4 years back, when both the pecans & walnuts had already leafed out - and I'd even grafted a few pecans, which were pushing leaves - when we had a late freeze that burned the leaves off of all my pecan & walnut seedlings, and killed some of my leafing-out grafts.
