Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any plants they would be willing to donate to a good cause?
I recently moved into a new house and although I have alot of new space for plants (1/2 acre), I don't know where to begin!
I currently have a lot of seeds going (winter sowing) but dont really have much to trade at this time. I do have some Vinca minor (was here when i moved in). And some other bits. I will keep my list up to date if anyone wants anything in the future! Oh and I could start cuttings off my Roses- Joseph's Coat Climbers (I planted 3 last year and they fared well over winter! Yay, my first roses!)....I should add that it would be my first time doing cuttings so I dont know how long it would take.
Anyway, anything you may be willing to part with would be very helpful. Please, I would be indebted to you!
I have sun and shade and live in zone 6a.
Thanks so much,
Ness ;-)

Hi
Thank you all for your help and offerings. I would gladly accept any and offerings.
I will write you all Dmails later but right now we're having a crisis and i thought i would feel like chatting on Dave's but now that i'm here I dont really feel like typing much right now.
I'm sorry please don't be offended, I will be back on, probably even later today.
But right now i should probably get motivated to take my dog to the vet. I have to have him put down and my DH has been trying to get me to go all morn. But i just havent been able to do it. Bear's sleeping so peacefully right now that i just want to leave him be for the moment. But i know i'm just prolongin the enevitable.
Sorry for the pathetic post. I just didnt want anyone to think i'm not grateful for their offers. I'm just preoccupied.
Sorry again and thank you so much. You all are wonderful people.
(i was ok emotionally for the moment until i logged on here and saw how generous and givving you all are, and i became overwhel;med with emotion....(smile)
gotta go, bless you all

ness;-)
Ness, just letting you know they did leave saturday, let me know when they arrive and I wish you well with all you plant there, it's coming together nicely!!
OhioBreezy!
I just received them, and they're beautiful! You sent alot more than i had hoped for! I cant wait to plant them out!
THANK YOU.
In the mean time i will pot them up till i know where to plant them, will they be ok that way?? Oh and are they used to sun or part shade ? Their roots are so big, will it be ok to circle them around the bottom of a pot? I have pots that are wide enough but not deep enough, well i have bigger pots but they seem huge for these guys width wise.
Yay!!! I cant wait to get this garden going so i can pay this forward! I am so stoked!
NESS;-)))))))
Please let me know if ever i have something you would like!
Ness, glad they arrived, yes you can plant them until you feel safer putting them out. They are used to full sun, but part shade won't hurt them, they are little so can adjust to whatever you throw at them.
You can put some soil in bottom of pot and yes, just circle the root systems around and add more dirt, if you pot them, make sure to keep watered, when summer hits, potted ones will dry quick, unless you dig a hole and plant the whole pot down in, that way they would stay moist longer in between waterings.
You will do fine, I am glad they arrived and you are happy :)
Enjoy and I can't wait to see photos down the road!!!

I can root some rose "The Fairy" for you if you want. It will take a little while to root them - let me know.
Oh that would be wonderful, Killer. Thank you for your generosity.
Would they be hardy here in zone 6a?
Ness ;-)
Yep. The Fairy is a Polyantha, a low growing rose which can go to zone 4a and does great in zone 9b where I live. Your zone is in the middle, so it should be perfect. It blooms in clusters of little old-fashioned looking roses that look like miniature bouquets. I will start rooting this weekend - sometimes they root fast, and sometimes slow, so I'll just let you know when they're ready to ship. They do well in mixed beds with other flowers. KillerChihuahua- Thankyou very much, i cant wait!
moretz- thank you for the liriope! I've divided and potted them up. There were so many! I really appreciate it! Thanks.
Thank you all.
Ness!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a similar problem. I recently bought a house with 1/3 of an acre. The house had been empty for a year and the yard had gone to weed. All I had in the yard were some banana trees, some hydrangeas, a magnolia, some crape myrtles and lots of popcorn trees! My sis has brought me a lot of plants from her yard, and I picked up a few more plants at the Dothan ARea Botanical Gardens sale and the Dothan Master Gardner's Sale.
I've got several baby bananas popping up and I'm hopnig someone will want to trade some fancy daylilies for some of my pups.
Bama,
I've got to ask.... what are popcorn trees?
