Can you help this girl?

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

It is from another site and I can not figure it out. This is what she wrote in 2 separate notes:
Hi! I'm somewhat new to growing African Violets, and I'm not sure what to call this problem. Basically, several of my plants are growing tall leaves straight up instead of out. I thought they were not getting enough light, so I increased the time to 12 hours (I grow on racks with grow lights). It's been about three weeks and I don't see a change. They're all wick-watered, and otherwise appear to be very healthy. No brown spots, and the leaves are not curled. Any ideas what else could cause that? Maybe I have the wrong kind of lights? Thank you!

OK, here's a picture I took last night (sorry it took a couple of days!). This one is probably the worst one. It's Raspberry Chiffon. Others are growing tall and lanky, but not quite this severe. I have all my plants on racks with lights. The "normal" plants are about 8 inches from the top of the foliage to the light. This guy is getting so tall that the tops of his tallest leaves are about an inch from the light. It's very strange because some of them have leaves that are curling under since I increased the light hours to 13 hours per day, so I'm almost positive it's not lack of light. Maybe the wrong spectrum of light? Could this be caused by a pH problem? I do know I have a high pH. I bought a cheap aquarium test kit, and it looks like it's about 7.8. We also have chlorine in our water. I'm sure I'm making some rookie mistake, I just hope it's not bugs!

It looks like the plant is larger than the container . Linda

I can't see the picture because I'm not logged in and I don't have permission to access that page. Could you post the picture here so we could see it? Of course, I'm not going to have a clue what's wrong, but someone else will, I'm sure, and I'd be interested in seeing it so I will have learned something.

Linda ask her to join us over here at our DG's garden forum !

Oops! I did not think about being registered. It is a violet in a 9 oz solo cup. They are growing straight up. We had a thread not too long ago that talked about lighting. i may check that out.
You might want to join the group over there and get free leaves. It is in effect until the end of April. One leaf for joining and for every 10 messages you get another free leaf. There's a Limit of course. They are not very busy. I think it is a new message board. Linda

Maybe I should run FREE leaves for joining here and for each posting :)) Good Idea
