I just got 5 new AVs from Walmart and, believe it or not, they all had tags on them. I have found 3 of them online but the other two I have not been able to find anything about. The first one is called Optimara Little Creek Girl and she is a 2" mini.

OH so cute Jesse ! You lucky Ducky shopper ! Thanks for sharing
Rhapsodie Sonja is a beautiful one ! I like Rhapsodie
series !
WOW
Raingazer,
I would be happy to put some leaves down for you and when she has some babies, you are welcome to one. Just make sure to remind me in case I forget. I'm trying to keep a list of what I promise people but I'm so new to this and do not want to forget anyone.
Jesse
Allison,
The Rhapsodie series has some real beauties in it. One of my all time favorites is Susi and she is blooming so well right now.
Jesse
Jesse they are all beautiful !
Thanks.
Jesse
Gorgeous!
I don't want to be an alarmist... but is that speckling or spilled pollen on the blooms of 'Mercury'? You've got these isolated from your others in case of thrips, right?
Jesse, Mercury is of the Ultra Violet Series. I went back to get her; and, you know how you do, look them all over for the best, pests, etc. Well, I forgot to look at the label. I brought home Sunburst. It is not the UV Sunburst. I took it back but by then Mercury was gone.

Oh yes Jesse please make sure you isolate all new plants 2-3 months you could lose your whole collection :((
Yes, I keep my new ones seperate from my regular ones. But what does spilled pollen have to do with anything. I do not know what that means.
Jesse
I do have a question about keeping them seperate though. What if I have a place for my regular plants, where I grow my leaves, and then I buy 5 new plants? Do I put those 5 in a separate place? And then if one of you sends me 5 more? Where do I put them? Does that mean that every time I get a new plant I have to put it in a separate place? I don't have that many places in my home to put them. That is why this confuses me. How long do you keep them separate before you put them with the rest? And how do you keep so many groups of plants separate?
Jesse
Mine either go in a different roon. Call me funny i have a boc on the stove under the hood light. Windowsills, and mini greenhouses . I also major neam oil and more leaves and soil , roots . ..
Ones i am really worried about D&P plants all pots tags roots soil all got trashed and crowns were sprayed and rooted in new bleached pots and still isolated 3 months later but i have not had any problems except if it does not look good or growing good i throw it out.
In the begining I bought plants from one person. Made it easy. It's a recommended time to isolate 2-3 months.
I love your plants jesse. I also have Hanaja. I bought it last year. It is a heavy, frequent bloomer and shapes itself nicely. You will enjoy it.
Jesse, very good question. I have the same problem deciding what to do. If you get a new plant and then one month later you get another, do you put them together?
Isn't enought to just spray the new plants with an bug killer?
Jesse, I think that your plant looks like it has spilled pollen. The thrips get into the pollen sacks and dine on the pollen and this causes it to fall out of the pollen sacks. I have had this problem from store bought AV's.
Sad as it seems, aside from isolation, you may want to disbud. No flowers = no pollen = no food for thrips. They are teeny tiny, but you can see them with your naked eye. Assuming you have pretty good vision. I have had luck with neem too.
In lieu of disbudding my Wonderous Girl, which had thrips, I neemed the whole plant, flowers included and buds too, and then waited a bit (like 10 minutes) and rinsed in warm water. Haven't seen any problems since. BUT neem on the flowers will ruin them (in my experience) so I've tended to remove them anyway. But the rinse in warm water seemed to save the flowers. I hated to remove the flowers, so I gave it a try.
I have the same issue with what to do when you have so many to isolate. I ended up getting one of those covered inside greenhouses (I think someone said Dollar General has them) so I can keep them by them selves but with everyone else. Does that make sense? I can just zip them inside.
there's more in the sticky about thrips too
edited for spelling. Doh!

I am so jealous of the people who get named Violets at there local Walmart
Me too Lorry
Raingazer..I have many of the little indians..so let me know which ones you have..I can send you leaves of the others I have.
Jesse, thanks for putting down leaves! We'll work out a trade later on.
I think I agree with Jill and Laurie, it does look like spilled pollen, which indicates thrips. That's what I had on several of my Walmart AVs. I disbudded them and sprayed with Neem several times at 1 week intervals. The problem seems to be gone. Look really close at them and see if you see spilled pollen on them. Better to disbud and treat than lose several. It's so discouraging to find that problem, I know. I was heartbroken when I found them on mine. The good news is, it's treatable!
Lorry, I dmailed you about the little indians.
