On cloud 9!

I had a very stressful, horrible week. Both my kids had problems. My daughter stole money from my son. My son got into a fist fight at school.......Just a horrible week.

Well I dreamed last night of an old brown tooth cowboy who asked me to get on Serenity. I woke up this morning, went over what Jess (my friend who has broken many an unsocialized horse) had told me to do. Went over in my head what we'd done in training. I put her splint boots on, saddled her up, clipped reins onto a halter walked her around, tightened the girth. Walked some more. Stood in the stirrup and sat side-saddle. Sat there for about 5 minutes rubbing her neck. Got down, talked to her, told her what I was going to do next. Throw my leg over. Did it. We stood there and I rubbed her neck for awhile.....We did some neck stretches to loosen her up (nose to my stirrup). I gave just a little pressure on her left side and right rein. She sidestepped. I let up and praised her. A few more of those and I decided to let her walk if she wanted to. We went around the paddock! I decided to end on a good note there.

Whew! I am in heaven! Talk about therapy for a sad heart!
