Special thank you to Allison

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

This is a special thank you to Allison for all of the beautiful african violets that she sent me. I have not been home much the past couple of days. We have been running errands trying to get DH ready for his trip to CA. So we did not get home until after midnight last night. But I did get chance to open my box from Allison and I sat there just ooing and aahing as I unwrapped them. My DH got the biggest kick out of watching me open all of them. But my camera batteries were dead so I have no photos yet. But they are so pretty. And they were packaged so well that there was not even one broken leaf. I was so happy with them.

Thank you so much Allison. You sure do know how to bring a big smile to my face and not only make my day, but make my whole week. Thanks again.

Jesse, where will he be in Cali?

I know you will enjoy your babies. Ali grows with such love and care for each one. And she remembers exactly who gets which plants and which ones are suckering or budding! Amazing!

They are all special little babies!

He will be in Irvine, CA this time. The office was in Temecula but has just moved to Irvine. I could have gone with him but I chose not to this time in hopes that I can go back with him again in July so that I can go to the roundup at DrDons. I went to that one last year and really enjoyed it and so I want to go back this year. His boss still lives near Temecula, in Wildomar I think. I'm guessing DH will be staying in a hotel this year since they recently sold the corporate house.

Yes, I agree. Allison is totally amazing. She sent me such nice plants. I can't wait to take photos of them. My camera is not charging like it should be so I guess I'll have to take the charger I bought back and buy more batteries. But when I get some batteries, I will be sharing photos with all of you. She even sent me a mini that is in full bloom. That sure was a surprise. It is adorable. It is called Mini Papa and is so pretty.

I think I am going to need a crash course in suckers pretty soon. I do not understand how to determine what they are yet but some of my leaves that have started producing babies are going to have some suckers I think. Then I will need to learn what to do with them. I'm sure there are a lot of you that can teach me.

Thanks,
Jesse

Allison,

I noticed in the ones that you sent me that the wicks that they had in them are not the same type of yarn that I use. What exactly is it that you use?

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Some have mason string if its yellow or pink .I like this best . Some have yarn. And if it;s green hubby bought
it when he could find yarn. All work
Keep them either under lights or windowsills but make sure none the plants leaves touch each other they need room to grow and for good air circulation. All of them have been growing under lights 12-16 hours a day,

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh do not worry, I will keep them under lights. That is what I have been doing. I did not know about giving them room to grow though. Thanks for telling me that. I think I like the mason string better. I will have to get me some of that.

Thanks,
Jesse

Oh yes very important to keep your plants spaced given them room to grow , plus not touching , helps give them room for air circulation so important , OK to grow in natural light but same goes spacing is important,

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I will definitely remember that when I arrange all of mine tomorrow. I had no idea that that was important. Thank you so much for letting me know.
