I hope it is ok to list this here. I have a friend who ask me if I could list the following at this site:
Keep Dickinson Beautiful Civic Organization (City of Dickinson) Texas, has started a “Wild About Wildflowers” Project and is accepting donations of wildflower seeds that grow good in the Zone 9 area. They are especially looking for red, purple and coral salvia, coreopsis, dwarf cosmos, gallardia, Texas bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and red butterfly weed, to name a few. All donations of wildflower seeds will be sowed around areas in the city and some will be used in the schools for wildflower projects for the children. Please contact the “Wild About Wildflowers” Project Coordinator, Mary Ellen Beaupre, at MEB53@Houston.rr.com. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
Wildflowers
Ooh, good idea! The Woodlands does a great job of sowing wildflower seeds, and I've thought of sowing some in Conroe, along the easement behind my house. I went to Brenham this past weekend, and the wildflowers have a really good start!
Hope they get plenty of donations, I'll try to send some. Check out Wildseed Farms for recommended seeds: http://www.wildseedfarms.com/texasmix.html . (Scroll down for the list of plants.)
This suggestion is not about possible contributions but there is much good information about plant types on the website of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildfower Center: http://www.wildflower.org/
which wildflowers bloom through summer?
