My new challenge

Sterling, VA(Zone 6b)

After searching for a few months, I found a new place to call home. It is a real nice house located just a few miles from where I currently live. There are some nice plants in place already, though some of it is not my style.

Actually the curb appeal of this house was one of the few things that we did not care for. It is a nice looking house, but we were not real fond of the garage right out in front. The current landscaping seems to hide the front of the house making the problem worse. The boxwoods lining the drive will likely be moved or removed along with the porch blocking hedge along the front of the house.

I figure that with some low growing plants in front of the porch, a wider path to the front door and maybe some more colorful shutters this house will have real nice curb appeal. What do you think? Any other ideas? I won't settle for three more weeks.
