Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Laurie taught me this three finger shot ! Now you can see this bloom that opened eve of March 14 th. is quite large fore a first bloom :))
It's a Sport of ;Russian Plant
Ek-Snezhnyi Bars (Elena Korshunova)
"Snow Leopard" Semidouble-double white star with lilac eye,and frilled violet edge. Medium green pointed foliage. Standard
And I am in love with it :)) I grew it from one leaf I bought from Bluebirds last year. It gave me two healthy babies one of which I gave to Laurie. Her's is full of suckers ! And I think buds also ? I have two suckers down but going to grow them out to see how the next generation blooms.

Snow leopard has to be one of the prettiest plants I have seen yet! If I don't get that in my goodie box..I may actually have to buy a plant of that one :)
Your king is soooo Lovely Allison :) I can see why you like the vintages so much.

Well I must run..we are heading out the door for our weekend of fun!

Another of my favorite plants I got last Oct. from Violet Gallery. I just trans-planted into a 5 inch pot as roots were coming out or the 4 inch. I am sure glas I bought the 5 inch azela pot as I was surprised how much difference in size od a 4 inch and 5 inch pots !
I've also shared lot's of leaves of her and lots of babies !
Guelph's Christmas (9120) 04/20/2002 (J. Brownlie/Guelph University) Semidouble-double fuchsia large frilled star/thin white-green edge. Medium green, quilted, glossy, wavy, serrated/red back. Large

Lilburn, GA

Wow, Violet. they are all gorgeous. I had never seen Guelph's Christmas before. I am soo happy you sent me one. It is beautiful.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Anna I love it ! Now that I have given lots of it's leaves away and babies I'm going to let it be happy and grow and bloom ! I bought it first hoping for green edged blooms. I do see green one edges of buds but not really one the blooms yet :(

Good Gosh Girl...you are really getting good with that camera. Love the shots.

Deb

BTW...the plants you sent are doing great.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Deb ! It so nice to be able to share cheery flowers to brighten everyone's Dats :))
I'm glad you like your plants and their doing well :))

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Ditto on Deb's compliment... You're becoming an ace photographer!

Gorgeous flowers! Your 'Snow Leopard' Sport is fabulous! Those blooms are vying with your 'Silver Wings' I think for the title of Most Stunning Bloom in Allison's Collection!

And I know I comment on 'Sunray Trail' every time you post a photo of it.... it's just adorable!! There's something extra special about "first blooms," too.

Thanks for taking the time to share them!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Jill ! Your welcome :))
New Babies, First blooms will always be exciting :))

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Those big blooms are incredible! I agree about the First Bloom theory - just like the first ear popping up!! Imagine..getting all worked up about something like that!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh it's sp much fun seeing the first bloom. Most times I've grown by leaf and so exciting to see a bloom you've never seen before. Most first blooms are small. Wonder if my Sport will get larger ? :)) Another blossom of it is opening now even more beautiful ! The buds are big fat things. lol This blossom here posted has a few smaller ones under neath look like they may open soon and other buds too ! Sure wish they'd open up all together !
I think I have three suckers potted up. That was what I fount today, When they grow and bloom if they bloom true to my Sports I will do the same with their suckers that will give me Second generation and then is 2nd. blooms true will go on to thrid. Yippee Fun. Then I can start sharing them !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Second bloom opened . It's not as big but just as beautiful. It's my new baby. If I can grow it full filled up with these blossoms I'll be tickled :)) It's not that old of a plant I think I got the one tiny leaf last fall and it's doing real well.

That is just absolutely beautiful, Allison!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks you I can't help but be crazy in love with it. It speaks to me or shouts to me everyting I go into my plant room ! Pictures and words just can't describe it. Hope Laurie's plant blooms the same !

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Mine doesn't look like it will have stripes yet, but the buds are pretty tight still

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Funny I had only one leaf and got two plants if their different ? My buds got realy big and fat before they opened. . Can't wait . I love all the flowers ! And fun surprises !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I just was looking at my Sport of
Ek-Snezhnyi Bars (Elena Korshunova)
"Snow Leopard
Second flower open has 6 purple stripes not 5 like the first . Very interesting fun plant !
On another group a girl posted 4 sucker babies all taken from same Mom same time , same growing conditions , yet foliage on some completly different.
Even though she does not have the room she will grow them out .
So if 1 in every hundred leaves can sport , how many suckers can sport I am now wondering ? Even a sucker may not be the same as Mom.
Nor if I send out 4 babies from same leaf to 4 different people / enviroments all could bloom and grow different,

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Here's the bud from the baby you gave me (and yes, it has a sucker that will be ready to pluck before too long)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

And here's the bud from Sunray Trail chimera you gave me. You can clearly see the stripes even before the bud opens. (Yea!!!)

Oh Yes I see vag stripe on Ek-Snezhnyi Bars (Elena Korshunova)
"Snow Leopard If it's like mine the bud will get giganic before opening,
Sunray Trail chimera flowers small but you get lots of them and grows fast ..keep eye out for bloom stalk baskets where she came from ! She is standard just a baby first blooms
