Sources for bulk mulch, compost, etc??

Linden, VA(Zone 6a)

My county's mulch program just increased their price 250%! So I'm looking for other bulk quantity sources since the county's has so much trash in it anyway (houshold wiring, plastic bag remnants, etc.) I'd be interested in not only wood mulch, but also compost and leaf mold. Please tell me, where are you guys getting those things?

Michele,
This was in the middle of the long "Lets introduce Ourselves" post...I think the date was Feb. though. Any-who-how...here it is if it's helpful to you:
FYI if your in northern virginia and in case you are like me and getting antsy for spring chorses, I just went to reston to pick up some more leaf mulch for my compost pile--- and they have A TON there right now. I had to chip away at the outer layer but inside it was black, steaming and crumbly. Yum. Oh and I finally found some seaweed emulsion at southern states in Purcellville--I also picked up a bag of dry molasses there too (also hard to find around these parts).
If you go and they still have some...let me know please and thank you.

Thanks, Chantell. I did see that. It was the instigator for my question, hoping there would be a more convenient place somebody knows about. That leaf mold in Reston is almost in the back yard of my old house. Talk about convenient!
But I will check it out probably within the next couple weeks when I get over there. I'll let you know!

Gonna "bump" this up...esp. after hearing horror stories of mulch infested with termites on steriods from after Katrina....yikes!!

Reading on other threads, the Formosan termite in mulch story seems to be a hoax. I certainly hope so!

Whew...so glad to hear that!!!

Hi - just found this forum.

I checked out that "termite in the mulch" story on snopes.com -> which reports on the accuracy
of the internet stories circulating. It said it was "false" but went on to explain that this was because
municipalities were isolating the wood rubbish to make sure it doesn't make it into the mulch.
They also said that folks were dumping chemicals in the wood to ensure no termites. I'd be
careful even if the story is "false"
