Dracontiums Odd aroid

Louisville, KY

I thought I would share a very rare plant with the group. This is a South American aroid which looks a lot like the old world Amorphophallus aroids. This form has a tuber which can produce multiple stems each topped with one large amorphophallus like leaf. The main thing with this form is it has silver to white streaks on the leaves. The flowers are not near the size of many of the amorphophallus usually on Dracontiums they are about 5 to 6 inches though their are a few really large forms.
The stems are what get me they look reptilian almost like a exotic snake skin. Anyone else growing them? Has anyone else seen them around??

Brian, is this from one plant? I think i might have that one...pretty sure it came from you. The only other one Im growing is Dracontium peruviana...still seedlings though. Nice!

You don't have a Rottie or Dobie do you? I just want to know if I need to bring meat or not. I'm planning a midnight raid of your greenhouses. LOL

Another awesome plant!!

Here are the protectors of my greenhouses and the whole estate. You would need a pretty large amount to keep them satified for over a few minutes.

What a pair! Mr Spock does look serious! Ms Gurty, well, did you teach her to blow raspberries! What a laugh! Are they really that fierce? Sorry, I think you're chances are good Badseed!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Brian if your two protectors are anything like my 2 protectors Badseed won't have a chance to remove any of your plants. She will be too busy fighting them off because pugs love to have who ever is around holding them and petting them. My male loves for people to come to visit, but the minute they start acting like they are getting ready to leave he starts throwing a fit. Jumping up and down and barking at them.

Your two are so sweet looking. My two are both blonde and my female sorta looks like Ms Gurty.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

ROTFLOL! I forgot about the pugturd! LOL I'll bring a bag of bacon with me. :) Better yet, I'll have the kids distract them with too much attention.

Ms Purty reminds me of the one on Men In Black that talked. That always cracks me up!

my two are rotten to the core. They are trained to attack on sight. They are both very over weight gurty is so fat that I doubt she has room for that tounge which never seems to be in.

Wow is freedom a pug mix I have never seen that breed before. I have seen the pugles.

I do not know which I like best, the plant or the doggies.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Tell ya what Kell, you distract the dogs while I snag the plants and we'll work it out later. Really.... :)

Louisville, KY

Man you really are a badseed. Just dont get caught LOL or your plant food. I would suggest watching out for the poison ivy collection also. Variegated poison ivy looks very beautiful and fools so many.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh! Poison Ivy is nasty and it really likes to blister me terribly. Thank you for the warning. I'll bring dishsoap, alcohol and bleach for the raid! Can you kindly leave a hose turned on and near whichever greenhouse has the best stuff in it?

Kell, stick some hotdogs in your pocket and hurry up!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Chele, I just saw this. I am going to get some hotdogs now. Too late??
