New Babies at My House

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Well,
I used to breed cockatiels and other parrots but stopped a few years ago and placed everyone in new homes. I wasn't going to get anymore for awhile so I would have time to devote to other things like gardening. I figured we had enough with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Well, I have a friend who was diagnosed with a terminal illness more than 2 years ago who wanted me to have 2 baby cockatiels that were the last of her babies. They were from different parents. They have been indoors in the living room in a big cage and all of a sudden started doing the "wild thing" without even a nest box for encouragement. Well, I decided that rather than having them lay eggs in the food dish that I might as well put a box on the cage. Well, they laid their first clutch and 1 of 3 eggs hatched. Here is the baby born on March 6. Eyes are opening and it's getting some color and pin feathers. I handle it several times a day (Momma bird isn't too happy about it) and will pull it for handfeeding next week. It will be going to a co-worker whose son shares the same birthday.
