Just an Open Mind about things. I do like how Rob does not think the worst first.
His Quetion asked to him;
Question: Several of my violets have tight centers and hairy leaves. I may have overfertilized when I switched fertilizers. But when I read my magazine, the description of tight centers and hairy leaves seems to come up when describing cyclamen mites. How do I tell the difference? I do have misshapen blossoms on some plants, but thought maybe condensation was taking place.
>>>
He gives many other reason what can be the casue
He also states " A cyclamen mite infestation is the easiest conclusion to jump to but, fortunately, it's often the wrong one "
Also like Keyring said using Avid in your home / small growers is not realy safe.*** He recomends taking leaves and throwing the plants away.

I'm still leaning toward a precautionary treatment with Avid to be sure I'm not passing along any pests in my trade boxes.
I'm planning to dip rather than to spray to minimize exposure and to do it on a warm day so I can open a window for ventillation. I'll wear long sleeves, gloves, and what the heck probably goggles as recommended by the manufacturer.
Anyone I'm trading with this spring who is concerned about Avid and does *not* want me to dip their plantlets, please Dmail and let me know. It seems to me that any residual left on the leaf surface by shipping time would be pretty small, but I'm doing this so people will not worry about their plants from me, not so they will worry more. :-)
HI Jill !
Well I know I waited 4 months maybe 5 to get plants I bought from David Senk. I gues he had a bad case of mights. He tried other things more natural but had to go to Avid. Not sure how he used it ? I don't know if he harmed any plants but I do know he lost one of his beautiful Hybrids. and If I think I'll remember which one.
I wonder can it be poured the soil also ?
Do you know anyone that ever used it you may talk to them. ?
Be careful. Maybe a masked would be good also.
Not to worry, I'll be careful! That science background comes in handy when dealing with stuff like this -- I can take all the precautions without having it seem like a big deal.
Since we're still debating if this even is mites that I have, I'm thinking a single precautionary treatment should be sufficient. I'm also going to start watering with filtered water rather than hot out of the tap... they'll just have to settled for room temp water rather than warm!
