A guy at work wants to know if he could just take corn seed and toss on top
of the ground if it will do ok. he has a 5 acre field of low grass/weeds he wants to do
this to to bring deer and other critters into the area. he has no farm equip (corn planter).

Likely all he would do is feed the crows and other large birds. Corn needs some tillage, he could sow and disc it in., But he would probably be better off planting a wild life mix and discing it in.
basicly what he is after is something he dont have to go out and mow down every year.
Like the corn stalks would just either stay standing and die off in the winter and
possibley fall over on thier own.
And the next year he would have a field of dead cornstalks and weeds. Not a good idea. Tell him to talk to his extension agent.
