Well Well Well...Every once in awhile Mother Nature lets loose on Arizona. We are use to 2 to 3 inches..... Mind you we shoveled the deck once yesterday afternoon befor this ever so abundant amount fell on us last night. :(
Hurry Spring
Rare find in Arizona
If the snow didn't make it to Awanda's it got dangerously close. And it is still snowing... :(
My goodness! That is hard to believe. Welcome to our World, Arizona.
It'll probably melt in no time, huh?
Don
Wow, that is weird!! Do you leave any of your hoyas outside during the winter months? We finally got all of our snow melted in Minneapolis!
Heather
Can't believe Arizona had snow and we had 65 degree weather!!! Too funny!
Glad to report it has stopped snowing. They had it forcasted until Monday, but it looks like it is over.
Don yes it is melting very fast. YIPPEE here today gone tomorrow.
Heather no I don't leave them out in the winter. It is way to cold for them. Even during our mild winters it still gets down to 40 at night. Tonight it is going to be 9 . :(
Karen.. Last time I heard the storm was headed straight for Macon. :0 !!!!!
It is so darn bright out it's hurting my eyes......
Holy cow... That isn't squaw peak is it? No you wouldn't be able to see that in Mesa. Must be cold that lady has her heavy coat on.. Thats a site in it self.. I've been saving snow in buckets for my Hoya's. I think spring might be right around the corner now.... YIPPEEE... Same thing every year a freezing spell just in time to kill all the fruit......
I wouldn't live any where else.
Tami that's Superstition Mountain. It's not too bad today unless you're in the shade. Driving home from Tucson today there was snow all over mountains towards the east. It was a awesome sight to see.
Blessings,
Awanda
Looks like it was a nice day down there on the ground! Noticed the lady in bermuda's and bare legs!
Yes, it has been cold (for southern Calif) here too. They even had hail in some places. Frost on the ground in Pasadena this morning, and snow on ALL the local mountains. Ski resorts are VERY happy. Makes for nice clear air too. I like it for a change of pace. Ha. All the hoyas I left outside are doing OK in it. They are in susspended animation now.
Marcy
Shouldn't have made fun of your weather, Tami - we had tornadoes here last night!! Fortunately, everyone is ok - one DD had a 30 ft. tree uprooted in her backyard and the noise of that scared her, her hubby and kids to death, but they're all fine. I did hear that the tornado sirens even sent one scared DG member into the closet NAKED - no time to get dressed - hmmm, who could that be? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!
Karen, darn I feel bad that I said it was headed your way. I heard on the news about all the tornado's that hit. We were going through Kansas in August about 6 years ago in our motorhome. The winds got so bad we had to stop. The RV park that we stayed at explained to us that there were tornado warnings out and showed us where the shelter was. :0 The sky was a blackish green. Pretty scary.... Can't imagine who the naked DG member was !!!!! I would of been throwing some clothes on pretty fast. Can you imagine that outfit?? Glad you are all doing O.K.
Marcy what were your night time temps?
I heard of the midwest tornados too. I guess Springfield got it BAD. Also heard about some Katrina victims that had moved to the midwest to escape future hurricanes, and then got hit with these tornados. Brother!
I came from NW Indiana, so I well remember the tornado scares every spring.
Karen...was that by any chance YOU in the closet? Ha Ha
Tami.....it has been getting down to 40 these last few nights. We did have a couple this winter that were 37 just before dawn, but it doesn't stay that cold for long. Usually there is only a few hours in the wee small hours that are that cold. Then by 8 or 9 it is back up to around 50, and by noon it is in the 60s for most of the rest of the day. Most of the hoyas I eft out are looking better than the ones in the house. Ha..go figure.
Marcy
Marcy LOL... That figures.. Are they mostly carnosa that are outside? We were a real warm 12 degree last night. Think I may look for a winter retreat down in Mexico !!! Thats Hoya friendly of course... Well it's good to know that they will take down to 40 (some of them) what was the temps again on your sisters porch?
Tami
Yes, Springfield got hit very hard - DH's office is over there (about an hour from where we live), and they still have no power or internet server - and he can't go to work, as there's a 16 ft. hole in the roof of his office building from not one but two air conditioner units being swept up and thrown through the roof - a four story building!! Geesh!
No, Marcy, wasn't me naked in the closet, but a DG member very close to me......hmmm, some might say we're like SISTERS!!!! Sorry, still ROFL at that!!
Oh Betsy.....where are you? We want to hear the story!
This is toooooooooooo funny! You've gotten more snow than I've gotten Tami (I've had more rain than snow this winter).
No laughing Lilypon....... More rain and snow in the forcast for this weekend :( Doesn't rain or snow all winter, now that the first day of spring is arriving snow snow and more stinking snow...... I just love the name of your town... Moose Jaw. I seen a mamma and baby moose in Idaho close to the Canadian border, cutiest thing I have ever seen.
Yes Betsy, ya little streaker.... Tell us...
Send it up to me!!!!!! We are supposed to be hot and dry this summer (and the rain we've gotten hasn't amounted to too much.
This pic I just took a couple of days ago......I laughed so hard when I saw a neighbour had actually dug out his snowblower for this piddly amount.

re: Moose Jaw it does seem to get peeps attention.....I've had a few here tell me they'd heard of it before but thought it was just a *fictional* name. ;) re: Moose we don't see them too often here but we had a young family of Moose hanging around town last year.
These are possible reasons for the town's name:
The name Moose Jaw comes from three different legends.
One legend claims that the name came from the course taken on the Moose Jaw River which resembles a jawbone of a moose.
The second legends name comes from the Indian word Moosoochapiskun, which means Moose Jaw. In literal translation it means: "The place where the white man mended the cart with the jawbone of the Moose." Lord Dunmore of the Earl of Mulberry was said to be the white man.
The third legend is probably the closest one to the truth. It comes from the Indian term "Moosgaw" when translated it means "warm breezes." It was a winter campground for the Indians because the shelter, the river valley and the warmer chinook winds from the mountains. When the white settlers came the settlement became known as Moose Jaw.
More than you ever prolly wanted to know. ;)

Oh no, I thought it was informative. I like the third legend, makes the most since. And I really like the "warm breezes" part. :) Wish I could send it your way. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it is rain and no snow.. All kidding aside, it really hurts my eyes to look at it.. I had to close my office window it was so darn bright.
Tami
Gee - - if ya don't check this forum every day you find VILE, VISCOUS RUMORS flying around about you!!! =0)
There is absolutely NO TRUTH to this story - - I was NOT naked in the closet..........................................I had just enough time to grab my bathrobe!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I have to admit, it WAS funny!!! The tornado siren is at the end of my street and when that thing went off, I jumped up out of bed and started running down the hall (I am TERRIFIED of storms)....then realized I was, uhm, UNDER-DRESSED shall we say! So back to the bedroom to get the bathrobe then down the stairs to the closet. It was scarey!
I've always wondered what would be worse.....having rescue workers pulling my naked butt out of the rubble of our closet.......or sitting on the toilet when the tornado hit!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe that's why my mom told me to always wear clean underwear. You never know what might happen and when, ha ha!
Heather
And I really like the "warm breezes" part. :)
Well not to lead you astray......what that means is that we are usually 10 degrees F warmer than the surrounding countryside. So if it's -55F, on the bald prairie, we are at -45F. ;)
Betsy that sounds like nightmares I've had. ;S
Gawd I love this forum. Reading these posts is sometimes like watching a favorite soap opera with people I feel I know. Ha Ha
Loved the legends on Moose Jaw .
Betsy....I would have done the same.
The Northridge earthquake happened here early in the morning, and I heard through the grapevine that some people WERE litterly thrown from the pot. GAD!
Marcy
OMGosh...... -45? That sends shivers up my spine... Sounds like the 10 degrees is more like a heat wave then a warm breeze... LOL ;) Brrrr, well I admire everyone who can live in that cold of weather. It's def. not for me.. And I find the older I get, the more I can not tolerate it. Just as I'm sure alot of people could not tolerate our dry heat...
Betsy glad your naked buns are safe and sound... My sister in law lives in Panarama City in California and was in the shower during a quake.. She through her night shirt back on and went out side all soapy... Ya never know what life is gonna throw at ya.
Heather, I always keep my legs and pits well shaven too !!!! LOL
Tami---This from a girl that lived 20 miles as the crow flies fron the border of Canada.......You used to love the snow back then....................You need to come spend a winter here and then you would not mind a snow storm every 5 years .....HHEEE-Heee
Thats because I was 18 years old and fueled most of the time with a couple shots of tequila !!!!! Half the time I didn't even know it was winter.. :} LOL.......... I love being a growen up now......... Love you sisto....
