new AV but color deceiving

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

got this new AV today...it is gorgeous...but like some other pics...the camera is having trouble separating the blues from the purple....first here's how it shows blue....and than another pic with a collage of what the real color is...or at least gives an idea...
..here we go>>>>>>>>>

now in this collage....a bit blurry in an effort to enlarge it....but you see the blue on the rights and the more purple color on the left...which is what it REALLY looks like

changed camera filter etc...but just not picking up the way it is...

Wow, that really does show why it's so hard to tell how a plant will bloom for you -- or to identify a variety -- from a photo.

I have the same problem, Bob, with my camera. Sometimes natural light will produce a truer color, sometimes flash will, and sometimes nothing seems to get it right. To me, it seems like this is more of a problem with my digicam that it was when I was taking film photos. I don't have filters to mess around with, but I've tried adjusting the color using my Jasc photo software (which is like applying a filter after the fact)... again, sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes by the time I get the bloom color looking "right" the leaves are teal! LOL

Maybe you should post that collage photo over in the photography forum and see if anyone has suggestions for us on getting more accurate colors.... If you do, please put a link here for that thread.

Me too. It's the blues and purples that don't show true

However!!!! It is a very lovely plant

Yes.... sorry, got so caught up in the "true color" issue... how could I forget to tell you my first reaction to the pic was, WOW!!! What a beautiful new plant!!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

well it is a very pretty plant...i have taken literally 1000's of pics...not 100's....with this camera...it is an older casio..32 digital x with 8x optical...and macro of 1cm....i have had it for about 4 years now...they don't make them anymore and it is simply one of the best of all time...has the best shots format...a swivel lens....it's a 2.1 mexapix..casio qv2900ux

DCRP Review: Casio QV-2900UX
A camera that arrived recently without much fanfare is Casio's QV-2900UX. ...
Keeping with Casio's traditional "bang for the buck", the QV-2900UX has a list ...

I have had the same problem and my camera is pretty new. I got it last year for Christmas so it is little over a year old. And that is the only color that it has a problem wtih, making the purples look blue. I wonder why so many cameras have a problem with just those colors?

Good Morning Jesse :)) Did you go to bed yet ? Nice seeing you :)) Maybe your boxes of goodies will come today !

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

No I never went to bed. I had run out of some of my medications and they caused some very bad side affects going off them so soon like I did. I was in pretty bad shape last night. I took my meds and my best friend from NZ sat up with me all night long as I typed all kinds of weird things in my chat room. She just stayed right there with me, looking at my awful typing and misspellings because of getting the medications back into my system. What I had done was to fill my little weekly pill box with my meds and then misplaced it. So I could not take any of my meds at all and I was pretty messed up. When I miss my meds like that it messes my whole body up, mood swings and all. So I am feeling somewhat better now. I'm just really tired.

Jesse

Note to self: Do not lose meds agian.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

You be careful Jesse. If I miss my meds I get deathly sick.
You take care of yourself.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

That is what happened Allison. I did get very very sick. I did not think that I was going to make it through all of that last night. I was so sick. My stomach hurt really bad. My head hurt so bad and was dizzy and spinning. My jaw was almost locked shut. etc. I will not bore all of you with the details but I was in bad shape. We finally got what I needed last night right before Eckerd's closed. I bought a new box just for my meds and this time I will make sure that I do not remove anything from it.

Glad you are feeling better, Jesse!

Really pretty plant, Bob!!!! : )

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Bob. It was really awful. Plus there were meds in there that I could not stop taking because of severe withdrawals, some that regulate my thyroid and I had not had some of them in several days. I never want to go through that agian. I am so much better today.
