I'm so excited...

I got this beautiful h. coronaria late this fall. Well, it did NOT care for central Illinois indoor climate (or me or something!), and kept dropping leaves. So sad! It was down to two leaves, and I was debating what to do with it - cut it up and try to root it from long vines or what. Well, it has started growing leaves from it's nodes! This picture (took 5 - hope this one is clear!!) is the first leaf, about an inch and a half long, but there are about 5 more following....maybe it likes me, it really likes me....Karen

Congrats Karen aka Patty Duke and you didn't even have to send it to Arizona:-). Keep us updated on how it does.

Nice little growth there!

This is sort of OT, but could come in handy. On my camera I have autofocus and sometimes (like with a peduncle or new growth) the camera doesn't focus on what I want. It "choses" something BEHIND what I want to take a photo of. SO, it didn't take me long to find a trick for that too. If you have a camera with autofocus and it doesn't "obey" you, put your finger right behind what you want to take a photo of, then squeeze the trigger halfway down until you see it focus on what you want. Move your finger and just take the photo... I hope that made sense!

How exciting.. It's good to see signs of new life just when your about ready to give up hope. Good job Karen. You must teach me how to be patient.

Thanks, all! See, Awanda, the next thing you know, I'll be asking everyone to send their hoyas to Illinois!!! LOL!!! Carol - phew, I was really worried about it for awhile!! Tami - not sure I'm the person to teach anyone to be patient!!! Thanks, Bets, I'm practicing with my camera - Bob's not thrilled (tee hee)!! And Christina - THANKS for your suggestion - if I could get my pictures to come out one tenth as great as yours, I'd be thrilled!! Karen

I know how you felt when your H. coronaria starting going down hill. Good to hang in there. I have a plant that was down to 1 leaf for two years. It now has 3 leaves.
