Has anyone seen this in person?

Abilene, TX

EBAY 7748121373 Bell's kind of a tricolor thing?

Drumheller, Alberta, Canada(Zone 3a)

No I haven't but it is so cool! I have a noid speckled that will send out half & half colored blooms as well as speckled ones so maybe this plant is the same.
Very neat though.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Pam I've seen them one Ebay. New seller. Guess company in Business long time ? Their Noids as far as I can tell. Their not really named or registered. I wonder how stable they are ?
It's might beautiful . They are sure getting high bids. All most does not look real ?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I just wrote to ask him about them . Are they Noids ? Sports? Registered. Whcih I know they are not...

Abilene, TX

yeah, they are strange looking, but pretty. wonder how it happened. they are sure going for big bucks. : )

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes and are they going to keep blooming like this. They have no feedbacks for selling plants yet. I hope they answer me.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I have just looked at this listing and picture...certainly they sound like a reputable company....let me say a word about how this could happen to the AV...ie...have different colored blossoms on one plant....In the plumeria (frangipani) world which i know something about...we call this a VIRUS plant..ie...that the color has changed due to a virus of some kind..with plumeria...we have come to PRIZE VIRUS...as the cuttings go for very large amts of money...often in the "hundreds"....BUT...it is still a VIRUS..and virus are not necessarily a good thing..but i think that is how this has happened...i don't believe it has reverted because of hybridization....NOW>.will the leaves produce the same kind of plant...i suspect so...BUT not any seeds that would come from it...
..just my thoughts from what i have experienced with plumeria etc..that have had this virus effect.

Lilburn, GA

Bob, the same happens with pelargoniums.

Abilene, TX

What is a pelargonium? : )

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

geraniums...lol

Lilburn, GA

Tsk...Tsk...Tsk...Fancy you not knowing that, Pam.

Pelargonium is the proper name for the tender geraniums you see in peeps tubs come summertime. Geraniums are their hardy cousins that are not as well known.

I had a collection of both of them in England. Had to give them all away before leaving for Georgia. I even started to cross them and got some neat flowers. I had around 150 pellies and abut 30 hardy geraniums. I miss them sooo much :o((

Abilene, TX

Seriously, I am not a gardener. I kill most plants quite easily. These AVs are really the first thing I have ever had success with. But I do know what a geranium is. : ) Have you been able to get any more in Atlanta?

Lilburn, GA

Can you believe that there are NO pelargonium nurseries in the USA??? You have to get them from Canada.

It I knew this before moving here, I woul dhave gone to Canada. :O(((

I am going to order some when the weather there warms up a bit.

Abilene, TX

Oh, good. I am glad you are getting some. : )

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

anna..really...didn't realize that...have you cked out the geranium society?...think there was such a thing out of pasadena ca when i was there.....or was the fern society....he he..can't remember

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Spider, do you count scented pelargoniums? Sandy Mush Herb Nursery generally has an excellent selection of those, and I've got a few I could share also... We can't have you pining!

Lilburn, GA

Awwww Critter, you a lovely. Scented pelargoniums count as well but some of them are available here.

There are some pellies with incredible flowers and colours. My favourite are the pastel pink wiht lilac freckles. They are called baby bird's eggs. Even the name is cute!

They are a bit similar to AVs. Peeps collect them and many cross them for new flowers. there are dwarfs and minis as well. all different colours except blue.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

my favorites are the vining ivy pellies

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Pam I wrote the Ebay seller asking them about their plants. This is the email I got back
>>>>>>
Well, that's a complicated answer, Allison. Our violet collection has been
growing and changing for the last 50 years. Some unique varieties we carry
have come from sports of patented hybrids, some we bought from small scale
hybridizers, some varieties are leftovers from another violet producer that
went out of business, and some of our violets have just been around here for
so long that we have no idea where they came from. While we pride ourselves
on our variety, up until now our main focus has been large scale wholesale
sales (we ship about 4000 violets a week) and not individuals, so no one has
really taken the time to catalog all of our unique varities and make them
available to the general public on a purchase-by-variety system. By putting
our violets on eBay, we are seeing what kind of interest there is out there
for our violets, and I must tell you I am very pleased with the response we
are getting. Hopefully when I have a little more time I can make a better
system to bring people our violets.

Besides the violets we buy in from Optimara and others, I don't believe many
of our varieties are listed with AVSA. Possibly some are there under
different names, but I know many of our varieties are unique to our
greenhouse.

Thank you for your interest, and check back with me in a little while -
maybe we will have a website or something soon. It's all still in the
planning phase though. :-)
