I would love to see how your Easter Trade babies are coming. I'm at the wrong computer so I can't send pictures right now. I just potted up 7 little darlings so they will be ready to send in April. How is everyone doing?

Looking good. I just received an email from the Baltimore AV Club. They are having a meeting on Monday March 13th. The program is a Spring Trading Post. More fun for the Springtime.

Here are the plantlets I am working on

I have two shelves. They are quite sturdy because 1. I am clumsy and 2 my grandkids love to help with the violets and lean on the shelves a lot. I don't know the brand name. I got them in the garden store that I buy violets from. Each of the stands has 4 foot lights. (Two per shelf). One stand has two shelves and it gives off more light that the one shelf stand. Go figure. Don't know why. I keep the standard plants 12 to 14 inches from the light. The variegated I keep on the bottom row because the top shelf gets a little heat from the light fixture beneath. I keep dark leaves and girl leaves to the outside of the shelves

The single shelf has my minis on it. I keep them 6 to 8 inches from the light. I have been trying to stagger the heights of the plants to give me more room. Bill says it looks like a space station. I bought some stemmed glasswear at the dollar store and turned them upside down. The foot of the goblet is the base to set a plant on.

Well I'm sure that was a lot more information than you wanted.

Love the doily. I gave the one away so I don't have a picture of it. But here is a picture of another one I finished a couple of months ago. It's about 18 inches in diameter

edited for spelling.

Beautiful Dolies Nanna and Jan ! You girls are so talented !
Nanna do you have pictures of different angles of your plants stands ?

Silver Spring, MD

I keep forgetting to hit send. I don't have any pictures of the stand, but I can take a few. I'm on the little computer in the study right now. Give me a minute or two and I will post from the other room.

Silver Spring, MD

Here are the plant stands. This is the large stand. The space stations is on the bottom. They are little micro mini plants

#2 of the large stand. It is on a table so I can work more easily

#2 of the small stand

I'm rethinking the arrangemnets on the stands for maximum area use. I may put the minis and the plantlets on the large stand and bring down the light. Then the small stand will be free for wonderful new plants

The plants in the front of the small stand are for the Easter Trade. I just potted them up. I have them on the table for a few days before putting them under the lights.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Very nice set up Nanna ! Did your lights come with your stands ? I wanted one of my smaller greenhouse like mini shelves on a tab;e but out ceiliing was too low. Yours are real nice . Thanks for sharing !

Silver Spring, MD

Thanks. Yes, the lights did come with the stands. I have a make-shift set up for the small stand. My table is too small. Half the stand is on the table and the other half is on a filing cabinet. Bill just finished a cutting block table for the kitchen and I'm going to twist his arm for a longer but narrow version for the smaller plant stand.

Great thread -- thanks, Nanna! I'd been thinking we needed to bump my January "progress report" thread with photos of our SEB trade babies... Since we're started here, let's continue with this thread rather than jumping between them!

I'll post more pics once my camera battery recharges... DH is heading in to the office tomorrow afternoon (he's been working from home lately), so I'll get to use the "good" computer!

Meanwhile, here's a photo of 'Rob's Whiz Bang'. I have a couple of plantlets that I started earlier last year that are blooming size that I'm looking forward to sending to my Easter Buddy, and this is one of them. Other plantlets may be quite small! I'll see what I end up with in April as far as leaves go... I'm rather hoping that I'll be able to do my 7 varieties as plantlets plus some bonus leaves, but of course that will take some cooperation from the "AV nursery" residents!

Please don't hesitate to post here whether or not you've had good luck propagating... As I've said before, it's perfectly OK to do your 2 plantlets as plants you recently purchased, and then add leaves from others in your collection... I figure that's a good backup plan in case of propagation disaster.

Some of my plantlets that I'd like to send this spring (secret trade and other boxes) still have really small root systems... I wonder if they will be all right to send or if I should send them along later when they've grown a bit more. ?? I did try to send one really tiny plantlet to MsC last year, and it did not fare well. I guess my other backup plan is that I'm willing to re-send anything that doesn't thrive!

Beautiful plant Jill ! Stunning. Thanks for sharing !
Thank you everyone for sharing your growing pictures.

Silver Spring, MD

Whiz Bang is beautiful. I have noticed that when Rob sends plantlets they were planted in the pot about 6 months before I received them. I am assuming that the date on the pot is when he transplanted them.

I really don't know how long it takes to develop a good root system.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

You ladies are SOOO talented :) I am sure that those doilies look great with Avs on them :)
I will post some photos of my babies when I get home :).

Nanna I love that doily.Do you know what book its in?

Silver Spring, MD

Yes! It is American School of Needlework. The Ultimate Doily Gook #1185. I got it at either Murphy's or AC Moore. Can't remember which. It was 8.95. I think I have made them all. Right now I am working on "Candlelight" It's supposed to be 27" diameter when finished. It has 43 rows. OH MY!!!!
