She is loaded with blooms. The cold wind a few weeks ago might have tattered her leaves, but she kept her buds!
Rosamond is putting on a show today
You are such a lucky warm duck, Susie.
Bleu eats bananas?? LOL.
I am glad to see these are too big for him to step on.
That is just gorgeous.
Why do you think it hangs at that funny angle Kell???? He goes in behind the brugmansia to chase the poor little birds out of the palm tree and to steal bananas from the banana tree. He is a weird doggie. He also pulls the palm boot thingies off of the palm trunks.
Both are beautiful and oh so many blooms. I wish I had that going on in my yard.
LOL Susie. In this case Bleu had it so right, the brug is hanging over your pathway as a most enjoyable natural arbor.
Oh Frannie, I bet your new yard will be incredible in a short time. Of course it can go on endlessly. Can you imagine if you had all that room when you were in your 20s? LOL What a great thought.
Love those Tiara blooms!! What is the odor like? I sure hope my Tiara produces a "Y" this year.
Did you see how the morning sun made the edges look purple? Tiara smells really good. I have a fat seed pod on it, I crossed it to Rosamond.
beautiful Susie. Rosamond is a favorite. It is such a good bloomer for me
Donna, you should see that HDW you sent me! It is gorgeous!(the red amaryllis is beside it).
oh I bet it is beautiful. I need a piece of the HDW please. Just a cutting or have you tried to root it. It's kind of hard at times. It rots easy. Have to tried to cross it with any of the dark pinks??? I was never able to get a pod to hold
Calalilly - it is always surprising how the dogs love bananas!!! We have 2 lab/CBR mixes....you call them with "BONE" or "BANANA"....same enthusiasm. We put the cut stalks on the stone wall and they jump up and get the ripe ones. Also, high on their fruit preference is: Surinam Cherries, Brazilian Plum, Abiu, Jaboticaba, Tangerines are Waaaay up there, Lychee, Longan... To date they have not ripped pineapples off the stalk, but they will jump the trees to get the low fruit!!!!
Bleu would fit right in here!!!
Donna, I have a piece of HDW rooting now. I started to ask you if you needed it! I've tried to cross that plant with everything, the pods start to develope, get about thumb size and fall off.
Carol, Bleu LOVES guavas. He steals all he can reach. He also likes figs. The surinam cherries haven't had fruit yet, the trees were small when I bought them. He stole a kumquat from the tree, he wasn't impressed with those! Yep, he would fit right in with your doggies.
Susie, Tiara looks like it is liking it there. . . sure is pretty. I know I have a blank slate here and and all I have to do is start making use of it. Kell is definitely right about being 20 again.........hey, I would even take 45 again.
lol I can't believe Bleu eats fruit. That is to funny. I have tried with mine since they think they want everything I eat but fruit they spit out
I don't know Frannie. 45 is pretty bad too with a bad back
Beautiful Susie!!
Seeing your flush of blooms got me excited for spring to get here. I can't wait to get the brugs out and start enjoying some blooms in my garden.
Rosamond is a beauty! I have some seedling from last year crossed with Rosamond and can't wait to see some blooms this summer.
Thanks for your photos and giving me my Brug Fix...LOL
Very pretty, Susie.
I agree, 45 isn't so hot. I like 25 better!
Bleu also eats grapes, carrots and celery... he's a weird doggie. When I feed Elliot(the bird) in the mornings, Bleu stands there begging for the banana chips that are in the parrot food.
The only human food our dog, Macbeth, wouldn't eat was pickles. Everything else was fair game.
The rooted cutting of HDW I bought recently suffered horribly at the hands of our postal service. What was delivered to my front gate looked like a pretzel. What wasn't bent got squashed. All those gorgeous healthy leaves were damaged and had either fallen off or had to be remove. Thank goodness the root ball and the stalk are intact.
It's amazing what a difference a few miles can make. My brugs haven't even started peeking out of the ground yet, and I live in San Antonio not too many miles away from you, Susie. Yours are gorgeous as always.
I know, isn't it amazing how much cooler it is in SA which is only about a 5 hour drive? These have been blooming all winter. We did have a couple of cool spells, and cold wind a few times that made some of their leaves and buds drop.
Oh Susie, these pictures are beautiful!!
I'm even thrilled by the GREEN grass!! Zone envy!!
Bonnie
yes 25 is great. I was still honeymooning then ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets just be happy we are not yet 85, though when I am I will be so happy I made it there. LOL
Hey Donna, you can still honeymoon. Just more carefully. You go girl.
Hey Kell! Whatcha doin' up at this hour? oop - me too.... just wanted to say hi.
Wow Susie!! Wallpaper dear, made my morning coffee taste better seeing these beauties.
Susie, your brugs are beautiful. Do you think they will bloom like that here? I will keep some in the green house next Winter so I will have blooms in the early spring but the rest will have to be out side. Joan
Joan, they should do good there. If you get frost, they will freeze back, but will come back up when it warms up. The ones you keep in the greenhouse should bloom in the winter for you. Mine did when we lived in TN and I kept them in the greenhouse.
Hi Karrie! Glad to see you again. How are your doing?
Doing great Kell! :-)
Great Karrie. It is fun to see you posts again!
