Come Sit A Spell - March 7th

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Welcome back Ya'll - alright spent all my last few days building a rabbit fence - I really hope it works!! I cut chicken wire into 1/3 and wweaved them all together into one lloooonnnnggg hunk. I then used this to wrap they whole flower and veggie gardens - I just have to do something! I had used this wire before out there around bushes and such I did not want them to eat but now that they all can see some glowing buffet sign out there I just had to do something. Will this work - or is there something better out there that will?

Trailing Lantana roight by the South wall of the house started blooming again!! And I have 8 or 9 Yarrow blooming their little heads off... sooo Spring is in the air!

I want to try growing yarrow in my beds. I didn't realize that it comes in different
colors until I saw it in a seed magazine. My purple lantana is blooming now and
is so pretty.

My purple lantana is only marginally blooming right now, probably just not enough sun. I have it in a container, but can't find a sunnier spot to move it to, unless I just plunk it smack in the middle of my small oval of grass. My full-to-mostly-sunny spots are really crowded, and I have lots of other plants that need to find homes in that kind of exposure!

I took some landscaping spray paint (the kind that sprays from an upside down can) yesterday and sprayed a new bed and "advanced" another bed line in the front. In front close to the curb is the only other place for sun. Lots of work ahead to make those a reality, but I have a dwarf oleander (thanks, Mitch!), Texas sage, yellow bells, and plumbago that need to go in front in order to have the sun they need. At least I can place them so they can go ahead and get established, and then I can slowly build the beds around them.

Anyway, that's the plan.

The Yarrow is doing great - I have the white and red, I hope to find seeds for a few more (just saw some light purple in bloom and know it would look great here. )

Lantana - yep it needs a bright and very sunny area - in fact my get no extra water and they still bloom and do great. Find it a little spot and it will reward you with tons of blooms!

Quoting:
Find it a little spot...

That's the challenge, I'm running out of even little spots, lol!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

A little spot? I cut mine almost down to the ground or it will take up lots of room. I like it, though, because it attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. I have one with a mix of pale colors and the native orange-red and yellow. The native is more vigorous but attracts more wildlife.

I am also running out of spots, but found a little sunny one for a Belinda's Dream rose, MAGGIEMOO this is totally your fault ( :

Dont scare her from planting it!! Mine go between 2 foot to four foot round each. . . . .

LOL! Yep, roses will give you a fever! Are you going to Arbor Gate's rose festival this Saturday (10 - 3)? I am. Boy, I hadn't been there in about a month due to out of town and then an illness, but I stopped by yesterday and they have a lot going on! I will start a thread tonight and post a couple of pictures.
