Boy am I glad no one reads what others say in a welcome forum. I got away with a whole bunch! Heee Heee Heee
What makes you think we didn't read it. Just because nobody has said anything doesn't mean twenty people haven't read it. I lurked in the UMW today too and saw everything you said. Aren't you there to entertain us?
hello....................................Elaine
Hi everone,
thanks for welcomeing me to DG.
what are your alltime favorite plants, mine are columbine and hosta.
Im a real hosta junky so to speek.
And dont get me started on columbine i will talk your ears off.just love them.
digging_ dirt
You would like to live where I do cause colombine just pops up here everywhere. We enjoy their presence in our garden. Though I am more interested in our hostas. My DW is a hosta collector and with our garden maturing now we have more shaded areas and the hostas are filling in with great texture and color. You are so welcome and look forward in crossing paths many times. Steve.
Is comebychance a town or just a state of mind?

digging_dirt,
It's so hard to pick just one, lol, so I'm picking two! Hostas and Toad Lilies for me.
Columbine grow really well here too and I'll be starting some from seed shortly. I'm supposing I should keep the different types separate from one another....I hear they're a rather promiscuous plant, for lack of a better word at the moment, lol.
So how many columbine do you have?
Erynne
yes Soferdig,
I would indeed like to live there. Cant get enough columbine i have a large amount now already in my garden, and more to be growen this year. And still more seeds on the way.God cant wate tell spring its driving me crazy.
Digging_dirt
hi Erynne
Yes thay are promiscous, and that word suites them just fine.
I wouldnt worry about seperating them thay will find each other anyway.
And that the fun of open pollanated seed you never know what you will get .That goes for all seed i guess.
How meny columbine do i have mmmmmmm lets see.
I have about fifteen allready grown in my garden about the same now in seed to start and some more on the way so i would say about 35 or so.
I like the toad lily to im still looking for seed for it not much of that one around be some day i will find it.
Hosta are one of mine as will a friend gave me some seed last year
now im hooked in them .my wife hates them she sayes its only a bunch of leaves, but we know better.
Robert
My favorite columbine is a native that loves my woodland garden and seeds itself in groups and we combine other non natives and there is flowering all summer until the dry september winds come. I'm anxious to see if I get any hybrids. spring is just a week or two away and I am anxious also. I am going to Mexico to get my fix in 2 weeks in the sun and bouganvillas.
Hi digging dirt. Columbines are one of my favourites too. I have them in bunches all around my property. Maybe we should start a thread for columbine pictures.
Digging if you like columbines maybe you would like a similar shape and flower in the Cimicifuga. They are my newest must have plant since I found one down in Idaho last summer. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/646/index.html
No Soferdig
Comebychance is a town,Im not sure how it got its name but its said that one of the first familys that lived here and there family name was
Combes thay were French and live by a river that ran into the sea thay call that a chance and over the years it became ComebyChance.

Hi echoes
Yes a thread for columbine would be great, i when to a site for columbine last year cant rember the name of the site be it said
that there are something like 4000 different know kinds of columbine, and it gets biger every year thay cross so good.
Can you imagen haveing even half that amount ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.
There is one that is black with a yellow pistle called chololate sholders
from russia ,im going to try and get seeds for it hope i find it.
Robert
I know the one you are talking about. I wanted it last year, and by the time I found the seeds I didn't think I had room for them anymore. I had way too many seedlings to look after. If I see it again I'll let you know. I'll go see how many pics of mine I have. We can all add some. Watch for the thread.
