I would LOVE some suggestions!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, everyone. I could use some advice. We bought this house 4 years ago. The people who owned it before us had these very nice raised beds put in the front yard and then filled them with a very strange mishmash of plants with no real rhyme or reason or consideration for how BIG those cute little bushes were going to get! We had to take 2 big shrubs/small trees (another Texas Sage and a Desert Willow that I really hated to get rid of!) out because they were leaning so far over trying to find sun that they were becoming a hazard.

We have taken out all of the tropicals (which weren't getting enough sunlight to be happy, anyway), and that opened things up a lot.

I've been playing with different things every year, trying to decide what looks right in here and haven't really been satisfied with anything. Part of the problem has been that I've been ignoring the purple that is already in there in the Mexican heather and the larger stuff and have been doing hot reds and yellows and oranges. So this year I'm going to go back to pinks, purples, and softer yellows with just a few red perennials (a handful of daylilies, mostly) that are already there now.
