I now have:
Strep Blue Mars, Jealous Heart, Bristol Blue Water and Hug me (a gift)
and the violets:
Pat's Champagne, Mac's Carnival Clown and the russian Koltsa Dyma.
I am soooo happy!!!
I got my first order today!
anna....wow...good for you...i feel your excitement....enjoy!!
Woohoo :) way to go girl :) Exciting isn't it?
Yippiee Anna ! You go girl ! Great selection and Streptocarpus plants WOW :))
I also have Pat's Champagne, Mac's Carnival Clown and the russian Koltsa Dyma
I love them all except my russian Koltsa Dyma has never bloomed yet maybe I gave too many leaves of it away. It's starting to look better.
Oh nooo Violet, you have them already!!!! And i thought i could send you some of their leaves. :o(
Anna,
Sounds like you got some great plants! Way to go. As far as getting something Allison doesn't have, I've been looking and watching and so far, batting zero. I really think Allison should post a "want" list that might last more than two days!! LOL
I ordered from Bluebird 3 weeks ago. With our warm weather I hope to see them soon. One was a Russian AV. I will let you know when they arrive. Linda
Hi Linda,
It took some time for me to receive them. she should send you an email to say that they have been mailed.
Thanks, Spider, I read that many of the sellers do not send until Spring so that if you ordered in Dec you would be one of the first for Shipment than someone who just ordered in February. I am glad she emails so I know when they will be coming. Linda
If violets are coming, can spring be far behind?
I love to have those new plants arrive.
Beautiful selections!
Way to go spider! I just got
BRISTOLS PARTY GIRL Streptocarpus
ICED PINK FLAMINGO Streptocarpus
from Rainbow Violets! When I have a chance, I'll post some pics
RDT, i did not order it long ago. I think she sent it quickly because I live in Georgia and the weather here is warm.
Anita, was it ebay or did you buy it directly from her?
some day I will venture in Ebay.
Anna I don't have those Streps ! When your plants get large enough I'd love a Strep leaf of each !
Have you grown Streps before ? They love to be dry. DOn't water until their dry pot light and just give them a little bit. If they dry and droop water they'll come back, if you over water they will die.
Bluebirds soil is too heavy for my wick growing so later on in 4-6 weeks I would transplant them to lighter soil. I use 60 percent perilite !
Also last time I got minis they were to wet on their way to root rot. All were so bad I had to trash them. So check and make sure you may want to dry them out and re-pot.
One of the best places to get plants is Violet Gallery !
I placed my order back in Jan as soon as their new 2006 catalogue came out. They don't bill your charge care until they ship and they are going to start April/May :)) All vendors web sights are in Sticky !
Anna - I ordered these on ebay - but I have ordered from her as well.
Violet, they all have two big leves and two to four very small leaves. If you think it is OK, I can cut the big leaves off and send them to you next week. If you prefer to wait, I can send you leaves when I have more big ones. you choose, i don't mind. I know that if it was me, i would be in a hurry to get them quickly!
And thank you for the culture tips!
Linda which Russian did you order ? I think I have 5 or six of them. They progate fast and easy so I have been sharing a lot of them ! Did I send you any . How is your Plain and Fancy doing ? Mine is getting large and has buds. I think it will also go into a 4 inch pot soon ! I love it one of my favorite Vintage Av's
Anna Strep leaves don't need to be long a 3-4 inch piece is even good. Were any of them blooming ?
I bought my Strep Christmas Morning from them and it came blooming and is alway blooming All my streps are in natural light and in pan pots. Their roots are shallow. Except leaves down and babies are under light . I am going to buy some Strep from Gary's out of African in April or May. He has the best plants and good prices !
Violet, they have very small green flower buds.
I will send you some leaves next week. It will not take long for them to get to you as I am in Georgia.
Off to check the sticky on how to pack them!!! :o))
Best way to pack. Water plants two day before cutting. HAve leaves clean. Label zip-lock or lunch bags. I use so many we get the cheap one. Put dry leaf in bag. Little air can be blown in not much leaf moves around can bruise leaf. One varieity per bag.
With streps one 3-4 inch piece can give you 20-60 plantlets !
Do not wrap ends. Use some kind of insulation, newspaper ....Always ship plants and leaves Priority mail . Make sure they are cushioned and nothing can move.
Amy took pictures of a box I sent her . I am very fussy craeful packer. There is no rush. Best time to ship plants is Monday threw Weds. so they don't sit at post office over weekend. Some people do ship Saturday then you get the box on Monday !
Link from Amy she took pictures when she got a box from me for packaging tips.

I have grown several babies and given many leaves away and they just keep growing back !
>>>
On Ebay a seller sells the leaves as RARE ONLY SOLD on EBAy. lol And the leaves always go well over $10.00 .
It's one of my favorites. Mine only bloomed once most likly because I took so many leaves off. But she's budding up again ! I've grown a couple babies from her too ! I feel they progate and grow really nice !
I love Lilian Sparkler. I bought the plant but sent it to my friend in Canada . But I grew a few from Leaf !
Great plants you have coming there Linda !
I bought my Lilian Sparkler from Bluebird's and Witch Doctor and Golden Spirit. But my good friend in Canada wanted them I sent the plants to her and kepts a leaf how I got my plants ! All three grew with better variegation from leaf too :))
Looking back on First Orders ! How sre these plants doing now ? Do you have pictures to share ?
Hi Allison,
they are all flowering!!!
Pictures pretty please:))
Allison, at the moment i do not have a camera. The old one is broken.
thank you for the lovely photo. They are gorgeous.
Tnaks their back few years ago. I use to buy babies but never grew them by leaf. I'd get them blooming and give them away. I thought hhmm 9 months to grow a baby by leaf I'd never be around to see it flowered.
And God let me grow thousands !
