I don't know how to put Yes! in New?

Halifax, NS(Zone 6b)

This is my Magnolia 'Susan' in bloom. It is so reliable as it blooms later that saucer, so the flower buds are usually pretty safe. It was my mother's day gift 4 years ago.

The column just before the image. Meaning that I'm new to the site, I guess. It changed one but not the others. Oh well.

Welcome Sue, that's a lovely Magnolia, great colour. I also like how you've done the photo, great depth of field.

Hi Robert! I'm not sure of the official zone hardiness of Magnolia Susan, but it grows well in Ottawa, which is zone 5a. We even planted it in our local park last year, which is 4b. I'll have to let you know whether it survives there or not.

Hi Robert
I checked and it says zones 3-8. I'd be a little leary at 3 0r 4 but with a little sheltered protection, it may do ok there in 5b. Are you in a very exposed site? This is 'THe Girls' series of magnolias which all bloom later..mid spring so you don't have such a risk of frost kill to flower buds. I believe it did produce some seeds and I will keep you in mind if it does this year and I will post.

Hi sue
no im in a pretty sheltered place.alot of large fir trees around me ,can get realy hot in the summer.
Oh yes please keep me in mine ,starting plants, trees or what ever form seed is so rewarding.even if it is the most god offle thing that grows.Last year a friend gave me some seed for a plant he put the name of it in latin sounded sooooooooo nice HA when it grew it was a cow parsnip same kind that grew wild here, but like a true gardner i tended it looked after it hoping that it would croke guess what?
It didn't it was huge ,
kind of liked it then so you never know.

I purchased 'Anne' from 'The Girls Series' last spring and it is supposed to be able to handle down to -40.
