While shopping for begonias yesterday at Palm Hammock here in Miami, I had two little orphan AV's jump in my cart. Of course I told them I'd take them home to Cali with me!
Left is 'Golden Thread Sport' and on the right is (drum roll) 'Winnie The Pooh' (Lorry, you can take this off my list, but thank you for saving it for me.)
Alice in Begonialand
WOW Laurie your in Sunny Florida ! And they had African violets. Oh I wish I knew I would have had you get me some. lol Winnie the pooh. Your Golden Threads Sport looks like Golden Spirit !
Golden Spirit (8871) 06/13/2000 (J. Brownlie) Semidouble white and yellow pansy. Variegated medium green and white, plain. Standard

WOW how did you find Palm Hammock ? Do you have to go there or do they ship or are they on line ?
Laurie...how are you going to get all of those plants back to CA?? Hope you are enjoying yourself.
Good Morning Ali, I got in on Tuesday. Palm Hammock (aka PHOE) is just about 15 minutes away from my hotel. I went there yesterday with another gal from DG 'Candela' from the begonia head corner. She's a dumplin!
They had a few of Robs and Definitely Darryl but not many more out for sale. I did see some in the back but they had not for sale signs on them =(
This link never works, but here's the part that goes after the www part (you'll have to copy paste it. because something about their home page makes it not link correctly.

or try this part after the www and see if it works.

When I say thousands and thousands of begonias, I'm not exaggerating! I went into complete sensory overload and my brain started shooting sparks out! He He He.
I'm going back in about half an hour just to take photos and drool some more..
Deb, I brought two suitcases, one nestled inside the other. The smaller one was only less than half full of clothes (I pack light) and the other half had Ali's Dixie cup case so I have plenty of suitcase room and I'll send them back in there. some may have to ship, but not likely, I'm showing GREAT control where the shopping is concerned. Trust me, I almost lost control yesterday, but got a grip! he he he
WOW I see on line they have laods of Epsicas for sale in 4 inch pots with prices I wonder how you order from them ? Your so lucky you Lucky Duck :)) Enjoy ! Have Fun !
no, I saw only one episcia and lots of hoya that were very tired and covered with aphids. The begonias looked great, but other plants I'd pass on. The only episcia I saw was in their propatating area, not out for sale.
BUT I saw half a dozen blooming kohlera (sp) which I want to pick up today. ($10) not too bad, and I was outbid on ebay, plus these are blooming and not just the rhizome which is what I bid on.
Their reputation for mail order is SLOWER THAN SLOW! so beware. I'll ask about episcia today, and see how far I get. Call me on my cell if you want me to get anything for you.
Laurie look at the Epsicas on line they have !

I don't have your cell phone number ? I just gave you mine.
Begonia, what do you put in your cart to have plants jumping in it?
anna..she has a little automatic open and close thing..like those new garbage cans....it gives you 10 seconds to put in what you want..and than you have to take it with you
that's quite a list of episcias...
I know Bob it's great list I am wondering about their shipping !
Those look like beautiful begonias. I like begonias very much but don't do too well with them.
Well, I'm back from my second trip, and I swear there are plants there that were NOT there yesterday! He he he..
I still didn't see a single episcia for sale, but did get a 'back stage' pass to the propagation part of the greenhouse where I was told 'ANything with a price tag is for sale' (so naturally, I went hog wild)
I did see a lot of episcia under propagation benches, but all mother plants with only half having name tags.
They said they rotate what's being propagated and I am just guessing that they've been saving all their space for this begonia convention thats going on.
So the AV babies that followed me home are:
Golden Eyes
Rob's April Storm (Gotta send you Leaves April!)
Rob's Boogie Woogie
and Golden Thread
they all look like semi or minis but I am the poor soul without FC so, I'll have to rely on what you lucky ducks tell me...
Ali, got a surprise for you, but I'm not going to tell you, you'll just have to wait for my visit.
Other beauties were some kind of sinningia, but it looks like an oleander of some kind. Key, perhaps you can help with id on it.
stay tuned, the plant sale is coming up... (but it will have to be posted over in begonia's - no AV's at the sale )
Ali, I think I sent you my phone # last week via regular email, but I was flitting about that week, so no telling if I did for sure LOL, I'll shoot you email now...
Oh wowo :) Way to go Laurie :) Sounds like you are having a swell time :)
I will see you on Sunday :) and answer your dmail silly girl :)
Lali, I'm up in Pittsburgh through the weekend, but Dmail me a list of your new AV treasures (I'm guessing a couple more might hitch a ride back with you), and I'll look 'em up for you.
That's quite a lot of begonias! ;-) I'm having fun following your trip report here, and I'm looking forward to seeing more photos of Begonialand..... LOL... How about a picture of you IN begonialand? I'd love to see that big grin on your face as you survey a sea of begonias ("most I had not seen before!").
I will take 'Winnie the Pooh' off your wish list. I'm happy to see a photo of it in bloom! The pot I got last fall was so overcrowded, there was not a bloom in sight. I have bunches of little plantlets, but they tend to put their energy into suckering rather than growing & blooming (hence, bunches of little plantlets!), so I have yet to see a "first bloom."
I do have a couple of larger ones for spring trade boxes, but I'm guessing that fall trades may be when 'Winnie the Pooh' plantlets will be jumping into everyone's boxes.... same with 'Midget Gumdrop'... they've both been suckering like mad, but the little plantlets are coming along very slowly.
Thanks Jill, I'm not in a big hurry, and I'll email you when I get home. The fantasy in Winnie is so cute!
All of the AV's except Rob's Boogie Woogie have multiple plants in the pot.
So here is some more eye candy for you Gessie Lovers
Here are some Chirita from the propagation room. Big tables of it. None for sale =(
This is a gessie (I think) not sure who, but loved the way it was in a 'picture frame' on the wall.
Tons of plants like this. One fence had an entire display of Rhipsalis and the like all in frames like this an all along the walkway. Very Cool!
Also lots and lots of incredible aroids like this too. (expensive too!)
Found this info on the sinningia sylvatica, which is called 'Gloxinia sylvatica'

laurie looks almost a bit like my costus...but the blossom certainly not...you are having a great time...happy for you!!
