Need website (building) help please. About to kill mine!

Okay, so I have never made a website before. I figured I would try it. I have WebEasy, MS Publisher, FrontPage and DreamWeaver. No books with the last two. I like working with FP and did the site with that. Previewed and everything was fine. Publishes and all is fine. Well, fine for me. I have my screen resolution set at 1280x1024. It looks fine when I look at it. Apparently many other people have their's set at 1024x768. They are having to scroll left and right to view it.

I've gone back in and tried changing the size. I've changed my res size. I have moved stuff on the page and it's not working well. Am I forced to start over or is there a way to resize the webpage.

OH, one other question. What would cause something like hyperlinks to work on IE and not firefox or vice versa?
