What is the STICKY>.and why is it called the STICKY>..and what does it include
What is FIRST CLASS?...and how and why should one obtain it?
What is AVSA...and why should one join it?...Are there benefits to this society and others as well?
Please answer in DETAIL..for newbies and almost newbies...
Well, on the third question...I joined AVSA to get the magazine. Which is great. But, also, it just supports the AV cause. Helps educate, etc. : ) I know there will be more in depth answers. : )

The stickies are the first two threads with important info. Stickied to the top of the page so they can be located easily.
Here's what little I know about First Class. It is a computer program (or something) from the AVSA that has pictures of all the names AVs on it. You can buy it from the AVSA website. I am pretty sure Violet Treasure has it and someone else, too.
Hope I dont sound like the smart alex in the class, but if you go to our sticky, you'll find info on First Class Software and the AVSA (African Violet Society of America)

..here's the point...when newbies come to the forum...(at least from my experience and wathcing others).....i didn't know what STICKY was...and am so appreciative for it and for the work you;'ve done with it...it is SO HELPTFUL....but if i didn't know what it was and somebody just said STICKY....i found myself saying...WHAT?..lol..course now that i'm a seasoned 2 month member, i know..

....when i first saw someone say FC.....i said..WHAT?...than i found out FC stood for First Class etc...and that it was a computer program with pics and registries etc of AV hisotry etc...
.....same with the national society of AVSA....not sure everyone knows of it...its 60 year history...the millions of dollars of support for study of AV;s etc..

Yes and if you go to the wonderful Stickys Laurie made us you can learn just about everything amazing about growing African violets and Gessies, and places to buy everything you need to.
I thought most people know what stickys are sense other forums have them. They stay up top so people can always find them for reference !
It's hard to explain the same things over and over to each new person so stickys are there for all of us. I got there each day !
Many new people were coming in and asking, suggesting we should have a sticky as most times someone asked a growing question Violet Barns link was given.
So with Laurie's and others help we have two :)) I am so grateful for. If you don't spend 15 mintues a day learning something new from our stickys your missing out ! Also if you have something special you'd like to add Dmail Laurie !
PS first two thread in our Africa violet forum.

allison..it is a wonderful source of info..and laurie has done such a wonderful job...so greatful for it...can't tell yuo how many times i have gone to it and learned new things...i just want to make sure the new folks know what it is....i guess i'm a little slow...took me a couple of weeks to understand what it was...same when i saw the initials..FC...but i love it all..and am so blessed you have come into my life....hugs to you...bob
I didn't know what a sticky was either. Reminded me of a line from Saving Private Ryan, they make a 'sticky' bomb out of standard issue socks and axle grease. So my brain went immediately to something from the movie. Then after hanging around for a while, i saw what it was in the Brugmansia forum and 'got it'.
But yes, we see the same questions a lot and it's easier to point folks to one thread than answer it all over again.

But the first two postings say what they are what's in them and " Sticky" under thread title along with whats in it. How can you miss them. You mean people don't go into them and look around and read the postings ?

One thing we could do to alert newcomers to the sticky is add a photo (or graphic) to the thread. Well actually I have to start a whole new thread, adding the photo, and then have admin delete the old sticky. They can't add a photo after the fact. Which was my mistake when I posted.

Actually it would take just a few minutes. I have all the info in a word doc and just have to copy and paste into a new thread. and viola!
then email Terry and have her make it our new sticky!

Can do, it may have to wait until I get back. I'm scurring around today to make lists for DH, on how to feed the dogs, cats, take care of the greenhouse etc...

also going to add a sentance to the first post in both threads telling what 'Sticky' means.
Maybe you can do them when you get back from your trip !
