Help! I'm trapped in Winter

Silver Spring, MD

Between cold and snow and having to cut all the blooms from my plants and giving up chocolate, I decided to go to HD and look what I found. I put them in the kitchen---three rooms away from my violets and proped them up on candle sticks.

They are optimara but I haven't a clue as to their names

This is the first--kinda of a two tone pink.

This is the second. frilled white with hints of red here and there.

I saw the thread on Spring and what is blooming in TX. It drove me crazy. Who says you can't buy happiness!!!! Just kidding of course.

I love you Nann :)

Those are both so pretty - I especially love the white. Haven't checked HD in several days, but may head over there tomorrow if it quits raining.

Nanna Beautiful :)) Smart keeping them far away from your collection of African violets !
The white one is it girl leaf ?

No. I wish it were. It is very similar to the coloring of Mac's Southern Springtime but the blooms are frilled.

Beautiful!! I can see why they jumped into your cart... and I love the way you're displaying them on those candle holders!

I never thought of candle sticks before. Read a pamphlet recently that said if you stagger the heights you can get twice the plants on a stand. I'm planning a trip to Ikea to check out inexpensive and different heights candle holders.

Beautiful!

Wow, those are great. The ones at our HD and Lowe's usually look like something the cat drug in. : )

Or you crafty folks can go to the thrift store and make some of these plant totems.

I did not know we had a Trash to Treasure Forum. Thanks. I enjoyed going over to Garden Web to look at their treasures but have weaned myself off of GW for the most part.
I have never seen HD have these soo big.
I received an Opitmara in a funeral arrangement. I went to their site and was able to pick a few out that looked like it. With Allison's help I was able to ID it. Give it a try. Linda

Dave's is wooing a lot of Garden web members over by the new format and adding so many forums similar to GW. I think GW sold and their admin isn't very good.
Daves is the best afterall!

Yippee !

Laurie - what was that about GW selling/sold?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Anita, there's a thread in the Daves Garden forum about it, but to be honest I can't remember where, it was about a month ago.

something happened over at GW and lot's of folks were not happy with the changes and lousy attitude of the admin over there. So they jumped ship.
That's it in a nutshell, but I don't remember the thread. I think there was a bit of flaming going on and no one keeping it in check (admin didn't seem to care is my understanding) and on Daves, they don't allow that kind of stuff. When it happens, the admin here nip it in the bud pretty quickly.
Head to 'Garden Talk' tab above and then hit 'Daves Garden' in the far left column, I think that's where I read it.

Glad we're sticking with Dave

I believe I-Village took it over. The ads jam the pages at GW until you reply or close it out. Linda
