CLOSED: Thimble Cap, Mora de Castilla and Mora de Monte...

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

All the berry seeds are gone. Thank you.

I have a bunch of Thimble Cap, Mora de Castilla, and Mora de Monte seeds from Oregon Exotics. We recently moved to a much colder (zone 5) climate. I am curious if anyone has grown any of these and or knows what zones they are hardy to. Unfortunately Oregon Exotics seems to be out of business.

I have googled them a bit, I have found conflicting information on the hardiness of Mora de Castilla, nothing concrete about the Thimble Cap and nothing in English about the Mora de Monte!

Also, if anyone is interested in trying to grow some of these seeds out (they are 4 years old now) let me know.

Thanks for any information!
Melissa

Don't know the first thing about any of those, but tend to poke around on the computer at night, so will see what I can find. If you have any extras, I'd like to give them a try even if they are old. You never know. Let me know and I can forward SASBE.

Mora De Castilla is hardy to zone 8. Rubus glaucus: http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Rubus+glaucus

I'd be willing to try any of them if you send them!

Sharon,

That is the biggest SASE i've ever seen! LOL The girls will get a kick out of it. Thank you very much. Your seeds should be back on their way to you tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Were you surprised? LOL All that sparkly stuff was just too good to throw away - hope the girls enjoy it. You should have seen the looks I got walking down the hallway at work since I took it there to box up :-)

You should have had a Mardi Gras lunch party before you taped the box up.

I was surprised, i wasn't expecting anything and i opened the end with all the tinselly sparkly stuff, it popped right out of the box at me.

Thanks again!

edited cause i can't spell! And apparently fail to proofread till it's too late.
