All of these are begonia's that I have picked up at H.D. at different times. Do you know which one's they are? I thought I would ask before spending hours on here trying to find them.

I was looking at the links you sent, and I think #3 looks like B. merry christmas.
What do you think?
Patricia,
Lovely plants, especially #2.
I was at HD one week ago to see if they had any begonias. None were found. I also learned they are selling out their indoor plants and won't be stocking them any more. They are being replaced with big ticket items (lawn mowers and tractors).
That leaves Lowes and Wal-mart for local sources, and they seldom have any nice begonias other than sempiflorens and tuberous.
Shirley
# 5 looks like Little Red, a miniature..
Great find Patricia. They are beautiful.
Patti
Patricia, some beauties there - I am so envious of everyone here who is able to find such great plants at HD, Lowes or Ace Hardware. We're located in a very small community - first Lowes two years ago and their selections are downright sad.
Thanks, Our Lowes never has any nice houseplants and H.D. very seldom does. The first two I actually found at a Longs Drug Store. There is one in Oakland which is about 40 min. from me that has a huge houseplant and orchid department and a large outside nursery. I try to make the drive over there a couple times a month to see if they have anything special . None of the Longs close to me even carry plants.
Patricia, that Oakland Longs is the BEST! unbelievable selection for a drug store! I found two nice 10" begonias there, b. erythrophylla and b. 'Cleopatra'. Not to mention a ton of succlents and a beautiful Hoya australis (sp?) I know you know the hoya but I can't remember who it is at the moment. something like tenuippes? Still waiting for it to bud up, but it's a root bound sucker so should be soon, lots of peduncles!!!
Just remember to keep your H. australis a little on the dryer side and it wants lots of light to bloom. I have mine out in the greenhouse and it is almost always in bud. Your hoya is H. australis 'tenuipes'
Thanks Patricia, it's pretty happy at the moment. It's got a lot of new growth. When I brought it home, I didn't look close enough and found a scale infestation, but it's doing better now. A little Bayers and I sat with it in the sink and washed each and every leaf and leaf axial and removed every last bit of scale. So far so good.
It's parked in front of the window facing north-west, no direct sun, but light all day. same with my DH-70 (tsangii? I can't remember it's name either, but it's a miss named exotic angels type) that just bloomed again. And yes, I must admit to tasting the nectar. This one smells like vanilla and butter.
Back to Begonias -didn't mean to get O/T
...how about a shot of Earl EE Bee, a trade from Butch! It tried so hard to die last september, but a bit of time in my perlite tray, and it rooted fast! Now it's a happy camper, I love the little red eye in the center.
guess the tags got mixed when the marauding basset hounds dumped my pots over back in Sept. (rotten bassets!)
I'll change the tag, so does that mean you can bring me an Earl then instead? Hmmm. pretty please.
Oooh Butch love the red edges on your Cayuga, mine doesn't do that. The second one looks to be from exotic angel plants and you could go to their web site and see what they grow. be forewarned, they are notorious for mis-labeling their plants and giving the wrong ID. Just take a walk over to the hoya forum - you'll see what I mean.
sure is a nice one. Looks to have some polka dots.
Laurie,
How big does 'Cayuga' get? I have a feeling it could be a big one so I'm looking to move it up to a much bigger pot when it gets warm.
Yeah, that is a problem with HD plants. They do come from a place that always labels begonias as rex or serratipetala or both. I have another one from HD that has potential but right now is kinda ugly so I won't post any pictures of it until it shapes up. Looks very similar to 'Cowardly Lion'.
Butch
Well, If I ever stop hacking on mine it will mature to full size, keep taking cuttings so it's small and compact. I can't say for sure how big it will get, maybe Joolz grows it and knows??
Beautiful collecton Patricia! I collected a few last year, some in the house that bloomed all winter and several outside all winter. They are all doing so good I want more!
I keep picking them up, but I am running out of room for all my cold sensitive plants and my husband is having a fit over the cost of heating the greenhouse, so I guess I am going to have to quite buying the more sensitive plants and stick with the more cold hardy one's. I just love them though. I was never into foliage plants until a couple years ago. Now I am always on the look out for pretty foliage plants.
