Ready for a project-and-a-half? This is the front yard. My mother used to say that some people had "lawns" and we had a "yard." Didn't mean to take after her. This is a new house last spring. The contractors seeded on a windy day, we had no water for some time (that's a brand new water tower sticking up in the back), and we were overrun by weeds in our first summer. So much for grass.
DH doesn't want to spend the money to buy a new lawnmower - would have to be huge to get the backyard done in one day, so we borrowed the neighbor's last summer in exchange for inviting them over for dinner each time. Good people! Hubby says if I put in flower beds and eliminate the need for lawn he'll be a happy man. I know that idea makes me happy! Anyway, here's the deal:
What do you put in there that will not completely hide the house from the street but will still eliminate a traditional lawn? I'll post more pics.....
