Parting Is Such Sorrow

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I have hung around this forum for a long time and have been growing hoyas for what seems like years. Day after day I admire all of your beautiful blooms. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my hoyas don't seem to grow....once in a while I get a new leaf or 2.
I purchased a Crown of Thorns a while back and it blooms all the time for me.

I have decided that with much despair to start parting with the hoyas and replacing them with a Crown of Thorns collection.

I'm not much of a foliage person....I guess if I water something it's because I want to admire it's flowers. I don't think we have the right light or humidity needed up here in Maine for hoyas but cactus seem to like it here *lol*.

The first 6 that I have already found a home for are:

Sheperdii (huge)
Kentianna (huge)
Iris Marie (medium)
Cumingiana (medium)
MiniBelle (1 long vine)
Australis (medium to large)

It's hard to say goodbye to these as I have been babying them for so long hoping to someday have a bloom but it's so discouraging to keep watering, misting and sometimes to find dropped buds everywhere.

On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to my new Milli's. So torn and needed to share.

Oh Kim, that just breaks my heart!! Have you tried any artifical lighting. I really am thinking, the key is to get them enough duration of light. I'm no expert, believe me. But, I have really been lucking out with blooms sense I added a light cart. I have been collecting for three years, this is the first time I have actually gotten any of them to bloom on my own. I wish you wouldn't give up, but I understand, if you want flowers, you gotta do what you gotta do. I hope you check in to the forum and let us know how your Milli's are doing.

Oh I agree with Heather - - DON'T GIVE UP! Especially with spring just around the corner! This might be the year they bloom for you!!!!

Regardless, I hang out in the C&S forum so I will watch for pictures of your pretties there. GOOD LUCK.

What a pity you feel so discouraged! However, life IS to short to beat your head against a wall!!! Shepherdii should like it up there...and all of the carnosas and H. pubicalyxes...cooler, darker.... Let me know if you want to try again... Carol
