Fantastic production with exceptionally talented kids!!!!!

.......AfterCast party is here and we are now down to 25 (with more going out the door :).

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Looks like it was a great show! I did Mikado when I was in university (sang in the chorus and was in charge of hair and makeup), and, trust me, those kids will be singing those tunes for the rest of their lives.

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

Wonderful pictures Pam. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Glad you enjoyed them Ginny and Andy :)

I think that's the reason DH and end up allowing 75 of em (incl escorts) here for their party. The house is often filled with the sound of their singing voices (and otherwise;). They truly have made memories to last a lifetime. They also receive telegrams wishing them good luck from people across Canada who acted in the musicals here 5-40 years ago. Must admit the Grade 12's are a little more subdued since it is a rather bitter sweet time for them.

DS receiving his rose and thanks for the effort he put into being a production assistant as well as acting in it.

Thanks Pam. It sure looks like an exciting evening. Your DS - I just want to pinch his cheeks. Don't tell him but he is CUTE. So what does your house look like today? Memories for a lifetime for sure. He is sure lucky to have parents like you and your DH.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOLOL I'll pass that on to him (maybe ;S) I had to do some fancy footwork to get the camera away from him (actually he finally broke down and gave it to me........around the time 20 were coming through our front door. ;)

House looks great!?!?! I think they were too exhausted to do too much (and we didn't allow alcohol;). This group is very, very, very different from the jocks (they PICK UP after themselves :^))))

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Everyone looks like they had a fantastic time, Pam! It must have been fun to see.

Looks like a wonderful production - and you are wonderful parents to host the 'after' party. They need a way to say goodbye to the fun, work, and preparation and performing... it's a heady combination. And the let-down after it's all over can be hard.

Thanks for sharing. ~Blooms

Blooms happy to see you posting here. :)

Thanks Donna and Blooms! Ü

The production really was......their talent takes my breath away!!! Ü Their singing was unbelievable. Many, in the past, have gone on to singing careers and a couple are now singing in Opera houses. Their director, Mr. J., has taught there for 35+ years and it is such an incredible treat to see his performances AND to have a live orchestra (in a small town high school production) is the icing on the cake! His students often win Provincial competitions (one-act) under his direction. The one-act tryouts start in a week.

Wow lilypon spectacular! Just think how hard it will be not to pursue theater with all those affected by such a production. The world got a whole lot bigger for everyone.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

It sure does. The pride that's evident in these kids and the spectre of all the fantastic performances before them (and the telegrams) really bring does bring out their best (and an eduring love that many do pursue).

Many of them will also be heading to London, England in May.......I have a feeling they'll be visiting a few of Shakespeare's haunts. ;)

Pam's picture (first one in thread) was pic of the day on the DG newsletter. Way to go!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

If the kids are going to London, and have a side trip to Oxford planned (it's often part of such a trip) I would suggest including Blenheim Palace, just outside Oxford. The Duke of Marlborough's estate is gorgeous, dating back to 1712, and the gardens are a real treat. This is where Winston Churchill was born and is buried. (Marlborough is the Churchill family's title.) Blenheim is one of the top five British stately homes.

Just a suggestion -- I know how itineraries can fill up fast.

Andy

echoes I'll have to pass that on to DS......sure was a nice surprise to see it there. Ü

Blenheim Palace (with the Churchill connection)....thanks Andy I'll pass it on. :) I hope they will since their High School has a statue of Mr. Churchill that they walk by daily.

DS decided to forgo the laptop he had saved up for (works at Superstore) and is going to go on this trip instead. He wasn't going to but then figured this was a once in a lifetime deal and he could get by with regular PC that we have.
