question of my strep leaves

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

i put the strep leaves in almost pure perlite with a little of fine vermiculite in it....i have put mine in styro cups in a box...2 containers of them..with about 14 cups in each carton.....i didn't overwater...and the leaves are not looking firm...so i gave a little more water and put plastic bags over the top...suspect this will help firm them up ..but with our humidity...thought i might not need it....what's your experience in this matter...do you have them in cups in bags...in domes..(i know some do this and i do have them...but i don't have enough room)..etc.and of course i don't want them to over heat.....i know it's good to let them have air as well etc....give me your imput.

All the ways I have tried the best way that gives me fool proof babies is just using plastic cups hole in bottom, filled with light soil-less mixture. I water threw real good. Oh yes I put one leaf cutting per cup and insert the leaf into middle of cup just a pinch. Then I just put them under lights or where ever I can find a space . I water once in a whie when needed , I never cover. Most time within 3-4 months I have a blooming plant !

If you got healthy leaves they should not be limp.

which plants did you get Anita ? Have Pics ! Sometimes the plants need to grow larger before taking leaves ?

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

You saw those pics already, but here they are again. I had lost some of the leaves - I guess the stress of travelling in the winter, so I thought I should put some down just in case.

Bob how are your Strep leaves and Strep coming along ?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

allison..they aren't doing well as you remember i tipped one of the boxes over...and they went flying along with the perlite...and have no idea which are which...so i'm just letting them alone and see if anything is happening....i didn't get to the leaves as quickly as i should have...so that wasn't good....haven't given up..but nothing happening yet i can see.

Hey, Anita! Love the pics... have a question.... Your newest plantlets look fairly small, but they seem to have gone through shipping without even blinking -- they look great! I wondered how big their root system might be? Does it come close to filling the cup? I'm always a little hesitant to send ones that don't have big rootballs yet, but maybe I'm just being a nervous nellie about it...

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't think the roots take up that much space yet. I didn't repot them, so I'm not positive.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

OK... I'm just encouraged by how good they look! Some of my minis are growing so slowly that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to include them in spring boxes... now I'm more hopeful!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I happened to have repotted two of them today..I had found these great candle holders at Bed/Bath and Beyond. They are perfect for the mini pots and I wanted to try the wick method on them. Not much of a root system yet, but lots of leaves. Probably because I put them down in the 'greenhouse' setup in my basement. I keep it real warm and very humid.

Whirligig Star is so pretty I've always loved this one. I like patches Hubby favorites too :))

Whirligig Star (K. Stork) Single white sticktite star/red-plum patches. Medium green. Standard
I think Jill like any Ab but mostly Miniatures their watering needs are different a person getting plants small with not much or a root system would have to know to be careful not to water much. I've had many Av suckers sent to me and they have been fine. Even tiny suckers from Canada !
