That is gorgeous! Does it have the red colouring as shown? I have just bought a new one called Raspberry Mousse which is nearly all red, but I love the combination with the white. I also have T. hirta with the purple spots.

wallaby1, this was one of the most striking blooms in our patch of T. formosana. Reminded me of another Tricyrtis we grew 4-5 years ago, Tricyrtis 'White Flame' - which had similar flowers and was one of my favorites. Unfortunately I lost track of 'White Flame' in our gardens and have not seen it for sale since then. In the meantime I'm just going to try to single out some of these beauties :)

That is interesting, I wonder if it was a self set from your original White Flame, but that would seem a little coincidental! If you planted more than 1 crown of the T. formosana, which most people would do, I wonder if it was a T. White Flame mixed in with them.

I haven't heard of T. White Flame, but think I may search for it! I would definitely isolate that one!

wallaby, actually "self set" wouldn't be possible because this particular plant was growing in a pot in one of our hoop houses. This particular T. formosana was from bareroot plants that were bought in from a Holland grower. I'm kicking myself that I didn't separate it from the others.

I did, however, separate one other Tricyrtis we're growing. A beautiful pink one popped up in the middle of our group of T. 'White Towers' and was truly unique! (Posted this photo on another thread but here it is again)

P.S. We got our 'White Flame' from Dan Heims of Terra Nova 5 years ago and I haven't seen it offered since :(

Don't kick yourself! You can separate it this year. Was the Holland grower in Holland, or did you get them from a supplier who got them from a Holland grower? If from Holland, I would love the address!

Here is the National Collection Holder here, I haven't purchased from them (yet!), but have been watching them off and on for a while. They recently had a visit from some Japanese growers and got a lot more varieties. Haven't really checked it out myself! I can see some purchases coming on next year.

Your pink one might be amongst these, not sure if they have pics of all of them now as they poss. haven't had the chance to update yet, but there is a long list from a link at the bottom. I have come across Dan Heims site before, I think it was from a link on this site.

wallaby, yes I've visited farmyardnurseries' site often :) Tricyrtis are some of our favorite plants and we're always looking for new ones!

FYI - Our bareroot stock of Tricyrtis are purchased through Van Bloem Gardens - a distributor here in the US.
