Humpty Who Two!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

You may remember that MsC had a sport of 'Rob's Humpty Doo' that she sent me.

The two crown cuttings from it bloomed a beautiful violet-blue, and I decided to call it "Humpty Who?"

Here's the photo:

I also got leaves of 'Rob's Humpty Doo' in another trade. I figured they wouldn't grow out as the chimera form, but decided to grow them out anyway.

The first one that bloomed looked just like "Humpty Who?" above, only with slightly larger flowers, so I think I'm going to refer to it and the above plants all as "Humpty Who?"

The color of these blooms doesn't seem quite true on my monitor -- they're a grape-violet sort of shade.

My from-leaf "Humpty Who?" was blooming away this morning:

And the other leaf in the pot produced a plantlet which is also blooming now! It's different, but also quite lovely. The violet shading around the edges of the white bloom is the same grape color as "Humpty Who?" and (at least for now) I'm calling this one "Humpty Who Two".... hmmm, that sounds a little awkward, maybe I should call it "Humpty Too" instead...

Anyway, here it is!

Wow, it's a sweetie pie! What should it look like. Well, what I mean is if this is the sport, what does the non Humpty Who look like for real.
(honest, I haven't been drinking!)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

ok sorry, you all posted in the time I was wandering around Belisle's web site ... making my order list if I need to...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Bob, if you'd like one, I have an extra crown cutting (one of the plants in the first photo) of "Humpty Who?" and I'm also planning to cut apart the plants in the leaf pot after they're done blooming because they are single-stalked and looking leggy. LKM! :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Will the real 'Rob's Humpty Doo' please stand up!!

Here's the link to the photo at Rob's, http://www.robsviolet.com/rob's_humpty_doo.htm

We had another thread about the 'Rob's Gundaroo' that sported on us.

I have to say that I love all of these, even if they're not blooming true to name!

Here's my "Guessaroo" noid:

So Jill, is it supposed to be a chimera? I couldn't find the info on Rob's site.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yes, it's a chimera, but on his site it is in with the rest of the trailers rather than on the chimera page.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jill your 'Rob's Gundaroo' just Sported back to Rob's Boolaroo :))
http://www.avsa.org/Library/sports.htm

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Nope, there's no fantasty markings at all on the pink pansies of my Guessaroo noid.

I don't know why Rob's describes 'R's Humpty Doo' as a chimera on their site but not in their registered description... I am guessing that after registration they may have discovered that it sports so often that it can only be reliably propagated from suckers.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

well it could be trying to 'Rob's Gundaroo' just Sported back to Rob's Boolaroo ???
Hek most fantasy do not bloom true
And
Rob's Boolaroo (8053) 03/05/1994 (R. Robinson) Semidouble light pink sticktite pansy/bright blue fantasy. Medium green, quilted. Semiminiature trailer

So many of Rob's AV's Sport

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL you wanted stuf to add to my wishlist..:) Well I love these if some of them aren't spoken for!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yes, it certainly could be heading back in that direction, Allison... But I don't think I should call it 'Rob's Boolaroo' just yet! :-)

Lorry, they're on your list... will see what I can do! They may be noids now, but they sure are pretty.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have Ramblin Midget and it's fantasy but does not bloom fantasy :(( Fantasy's are unstable that's why I mentioned it.
You could just grow it out three generation keep notes and all and re-name and register it.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Since we're on the subject of trailers... Looks like I'll have 3 or 4 plantlets available of 'Ramblin' Angel' (crown cutting & a leaf pot with babies) andof 'Milky Way Trail' (just potted up 5 plantlets from a leaf pot, am keeping one). Allison? Lorry? Lali? I think you gals have first dibs on nearly everything, LOL, since you're sharing so many of yours with me... but if you turn them down, then they're up for grabs! :-)

Trailers are fun because once you get them started, it's pretty easy to pop off an extra crown here or there for propagation. So I know I'll eventually be able to share these with everyone!

'Allegro Appalachian Trail' on the other hand is not in limited supply at all... I think everyone will be getting one in their box whether or not they've requested it. Plantlets need homes! ;-)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I still have a few Milky Way Trails jave given a lot of them away. I have a couple Ramblin but like CHampions best ! I do have nice babies of Ramblin Lace with wonderful variegation. Some small babies of Ramblin ' Midget by Ethel Champion :))
Ramblin' Midget (6188) 03/29/1986 (E. Champion) Single lavender fantasy. Crown variegated dark green and pink, plain. Semiminiature trailer

>>>>> Mine are blooming Single Lavender

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I would LOVE milky way trail and ramblin angel :) I really need more trailers in my life! :)
But don't cut other people out on my account :) I am sure I will adore whatever it is you choose to send my way :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL! Our tastes sure do run along the same lines... girl leafed & variegated minis, trailers, large standards with Buckeye type cream & pink variegation... all my favorites too! I'm going to have a good time filling your box... To paraphrase a famous line from the movies, I think I'm gonna need a bigger box! *happy giggle*

Denver, CO

Hey now- I am the third, albeit quieter pea in the" love-variegation-and-large-standards-and-girls" pod.

And may I also request a photo of 'Ramblin' Midget?'
Kenton

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Welcome to the pod, Kenton! LOL

Go to Allison's "winter flowers" thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/576471/ and scroll down to Saturday's pics. :-)

Denver, CO

Oh, silly me, I was just looking at that!
Thanks, Jill.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOl..I was thinking the SAME thing Critter!
We do tend to gravitate toward the same type of plants :)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Critter...do you like pink sensation?
I have some babies of her coming along nicely :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Wow.... just looked up 'Pink Sensation'... those blooms look HUGE! From the description, it's almost like 'Music Box Dancer' only with variegated foliage! Maybe we should make a substitution on my wish list.... :-)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Kenton First Class say Ramblin Midget is Fantasy but mine did not bloom fantasy. I'm so happy to have Ehtel Champion plant and the variegation is so pretty on this trailer I don't mind. My picture I took was horrible fuzzy I will have to get better ones !
