new tropical pond...

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

I've been designing a new tropical lily pond...this is a "plugger" project as I am having to do it with as little money as possible. Things are slowly taking shape though my boots do get heavy from tromping around in all the wet red clay ") I'll have to take another picture...I took this one yesterday and it looks a bit better today...

Hi Charlotte. That looks great! What are the dimensions and how deep is it? It looks very like what I'm hoping to put in this year, and mine has to be as cheap as possible.

Its about 8 x 6 with water feeding into it from the small pond behind it...the small one behind it was just an over flow lily storage area ..this new structure will only be about 12" deep because I dont plan to over winter any fish in it (I will only put about 2 or 3 fish in during the summer) very low fish load means I wont need a bio filter...this is mainly for my tropical lilies.. and a few marginals.

I did buy EPDM liner because thats one thing I dont skimp on and a small 350 GPH Pondmag pump to create a small trickle and the Pondmag pumps are very energy efficient :)

Love it! Thanks for posting the process. I've been considering putting in a few 'pondlets' in the garden to put in some water plants. This gives me a lot of ideas.
