Gardening around the postal carrier

Lawrence, KS

In my neighborhood, the houses are fairly close together, and the mailboxes are on or near the front porches. The postal carrier does not use the sidewalks, but walks through our front yards directly from one front porch to the next. I just happened to be watching out the front window a minute ago and saw him tromp right through a neighbor's garden (it is a "galley garden" that runs from one side of her porch down to the main sidewalk) because it was in his way.

So this is just a reminder to keep in mind the postal carrier's route when designing your front gardens, and install paths or stepping stones if you don't want your creations trampled!
