Rooted Brugmansia Cuttings Revisited

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks to everyone who replied to my Brug post in the plant swap. I ended it because we have had including tonight, 4 nights of mid 20's for over 5 hours each night. I am worried sick about my Brugs in the ground as half of them were starting to push up new growth because of the extraordinarily warm January. Come Spring, probably about the end of March I will know what survived outside and what didn't. By then, all of my cutting will be in 1 gallon pots and I will resume the Brug swap. I will most likely have left overs even if what is outside didn't make it.

To those I have been d-mailing back and forth, have no worries, I will honor the trades.

Good luck to your brugs. No fair it is getting so cold after being so warm! I hope all of yours do great. Have you tossed a sheet over them? I have done that and it really helps.

I understand your worry. I have had lots of perennials coming up (not brugs which are in the greenhouse), and then we had the big drop in temps. I am sure my neighbors are a little embarrassed by my colorful yard because I have used all kinds of fabrics, sheets and towels to cover and wrap plants! Sure hope your brugs are ok.

Try a blanket on top . Put a lamp with at least a 25 watt bulb under blanket .
Make sure there is a lamp shade on lamp .
You can also put bottles of water under blanket to act like a heat exchanger .
I use the Xmas net lights on the orchids [ cymb ]outside under awning but it's only got down to 30 twice in last 4 months .

Hi X,,, hope your babies make it... It is warming up here so maybe for you 2. I have to get started on building a greenhouse before next winter.
