I visited my gyne today to check some lumps. And we got to talking about PMS. Since I gave up all caffiene and cut back on sugar, I no longer suffer from the painful menstrual cramps, breast tenderness and mood swings that I had before. Life is so different! Much better!
But I still get migraines--they last for 2 or 3 days and no amount of over-the-counter pain reliever resolves them. They can be blinding and occasionally they are so bad that I just cannot function. They suddenly come right before my period and suddenly leave a couple days later.
The gyne suggested I take Black Cohosh and Soy (the ingredients in Estroven) a few days before my period starts and a few days after it starts. She said the estrogen level in our bodies causes much of our PMS symptoms, and the Estroven helps even it out a little.
I'm not a pill taker. I can't remember to take pills everyday for months or years. But she said I only need to take the Estroven just for those few days--not the entire month, just during the periods of low estrogen.
Have y'all tried this? I thought estroven was for menopause, but here's a new use for it. Do any of y'all take Black Cohosh and Soy in some other form? How often do you take it? Any side effects?
LADIES ONLY! Estroven for PMS?
