LOL Yes I know I need help, lots of it.....I was in Safeway today and the floral dept. lady was yanking bloomed out plants out of their pots and tossing them into her garbage can on her cart. Well she yanked a mini out of it's tiny pot and tossed it too......Sooooo I snagged it Yes that's right,and kept on walking and then put it into a produce bag and took it home,potted it into some miracle grow potting soil for now. I have a ceramic pot that is 3" across and 2" deep would this be o.k. for it?? What about the miracle grow potting soil??? Thanks Lauri aka AVnapper
Rescued Mini Needs your Help
Lauri is it a mini or small plant ? Either way mix at least 50 percent perlite with the MG and with water mix well lightly moist.
I use the 1/3 rule; the pot should be one third the size of the plant. Examplea Miniature African violet plant grows plants 3-6 inches across and they will never need to be in a larger than a 2 inch pot. And never larger than 2.50. Shallow pots are good. To be honest plastic pots with hole for draniage in bottom are the best.
Gosh why was she throwing them away ? So sad.

It's a mini there were 2 others there that were still blooming. This one and alot of other plants and AV's were sone blooming so they were being tossed.They won't mark them down and sell them they chop them up and send them out to compost instead...This is the best I can do tonite. The leaves are'nt much bigger than my thumb nail even the 4 I trimmed off.
Oh wow. Yes tomorrow if you can put it in small pot or solo cup light soil and not wet at all. Place in a large gallon zip lock bag blow up or some like . Keep warm with light. Keep an eye out if moisture builds up open bag a few hours each day to get air. Good luck !
Wow Lauri you were lucky being at the right place at the right time..My mom used to start a new plant just by a leaf...The mini I bought today I had to transplant it in the A.V. soil and my pot is the same size as yours,now I thinking I should put it in a smaller pot as Allison recomended...ME...
