His seller name is "TheBearTree". I was worried because he said he was shipping them some time ago but he emailed a few days ago and said he had a family emergency and had to go out of town before getting to the post office that day. In addition to the 2 I bought, he sent Hallucination and Kid Karla as a bonus. They were well packed in insulation with a heat pack and arrived as you see them just unpacked. Would buy from him again.
Allison,
I will bring them up this weekend when I come to see you and you can advise me on repotting, etc.

Yes coldest days of our winter they said Bob You know these tin boxes get cold our heat will go non-stop.
I've purchased from The Bear Tree before. I purchased Rob's Mister Sneezy which arrived along with a freebie -- Rob's Soliloquy. I really love the leaves on Rob's Mister Sneezy -- they're very tiny. As for Rob's Soliloquy, it's in very good shape, but it has pink flowers, and I'm more of a purple queen. Anyone out there want Rob's Soliloquy?
Marilee
Rob's Soliloquy-does it have variegated leaves? i have wanted a variegated leaf one for soooooooooo long and cant find them around here, plmk and thxs
moretz

It's hard to remember everyone and names I get everyone mixed up. I'm starting to get to know names.
HP Rob's Soliloquy not mine it's all info from FC though I've grown a couple they went to new Mom's. Beautiful plant.
Laurie I got all the African violets leaves down, all the Begonia and plants potted up, some Streps. But all the cups are named with the rest of the Strep leaves and Chiritas I will finish them up first thing Am. Then I need to try to trans plant couple trays of babies from Mom and water. The plants and all leaves look good and healthy and Happy. I'll be posting pictures ! Something one of the plants smells good which one is it ?
Those plants are just gorgeous! 'Kid Karla' is so full and symmetrical, it looks like it's being groomed as a show plant! Wow, this is one eBay seller I think I'd buy from!
I have kid karla and she is one of my favorites :) It grows so nicely! I also have tons of leaves up so can hopefully share it with everyone :)
I have bought from thebeartree and he always takes FOREVER to ship but they are always nice plants :)
Yours are lovely!
I love Kid Karla :))
Jan / in Florida you have update Dmail :))
Does anyone know if all the "Rob's" cultivars are from The Violet Barn?
It's in Connecticut and owned by a Dr. Robinson
Yes, that is Rob Robinson. His violets are beautiful. : )
Dr. Robinson owns Violet Barn and he is the Hybridizer
of all Rob's African violets also Bristol's Streps and his wife does the Standard Ma's Series.
You can find other vendors selling them, Ebay you see a lot for sale, and people on this forum share and trade some of Rob's Av's.
Welcome ! Hope you can visit more ! This is a wonderful group of kind giving people here !
Allison
Isn't Violet Barn in New York ?
Just checked the website - it's Naples NY. I'm looking forward to having violets again. I used to drag orphans home from HD and they'd turn into beauties 8 or 9" in diameter when I didn't know diddly about raising them, but...haven't had any in quite some time. I bet they'll be really awesome with a little advice from the forum Can hardly wait for this PA weather to moderate enough to allow shipping!
Where is Harmony? If you ever get down this way, stop in -- we're right off 70, also 15, 85, et al. We could do a little midwinter plant swapping with no shipping needed! :-) My folks are in Pittsburgh, so we'll probably be heading up there before spring also....
I love Rob's miniature AVs! I placed an order with him last spring and got a number of small but very healthy plants. I've had better luck propagating some than others, but should have some of his varieties available for spring trades. I gave away some 'Rob's Bunny Hop' and 'Peppermint Girl' (not a Rob's variety, but got it from VB also) plantlets that were in first bud/bloom as party favors at my DG tea party yesterday!
My favorite variegated one is my Dean's Rosalie
It has the PRETTIEST pink around each leaf
Harmony is on Interstate 79 about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. There are signs all over the place for the "historical district." I fully believe in preserving the architecture of the past, but this comminity has gotten a bit hysterical about the subject...I can't change the color of the trim on my (historical) home unless I go before a review board and ask permission. Are they kidding? I've plowed a ton of money into this place including two tons of money into the landscaping/garden. In the summertime, I have people interupting me(not that I mind at all) to tell me how beautiful it is. Hope y'all have a chance to stop by. My farthest traveler was a lovely lady from Georgia...she saw the the signs for the Historical District and decided to stop by for a moment. Pulled up in front of my house while I was out there pulling weeds. We started to chat and ended up with her taking pictures of my garden. Most of it can't be seen from the street, but sometimes I get a special feeling about a tourist and ask them to wander through. The back boundary is the Connoquenessing Creek where I see snapping turtles, great blue herons, wood ducks, redtail hawks, and on and on. I've been seen charging out the back door in my bathrobe with my bird book and binoculars in hand. Amazing for my proximity to a major metropolitan area.
Trade plants? You betcha!

i love it when people want to take pics of my garden or want to know what i have in them, makes you feel like you have done a great job not only to yourself but to others and maybe it is a generation after yours, i love plants i have been in them for 15 years and love them alot, my mom said thati g ot it from her mom(grandmother), and when i am on dg,i see that i am not the only NUT here that is obsessed with them. so i know i belong in the plants lol
keep up the good job,
moretz
Jan did your mosaic foliage plant bloom ?
Hi,
I'll get some pics tonight. The blooms are small. Is this because they are the first blooms? They're sort of dusky pink in color.
Jan...
Beautiful babies, Budgie!
