I asked a questions bout planting these mini AV's in these cups earlier, however i did not know if they would be ok without drainage, well i got a couple replys and decided to put some pebbles in the bottom to control the drainage.
I originally wanted DH to somehow drill holes in the bottom of them, i just did not want them to get broken in the process.
I think they will be fine with the pebbles in the bottom and water maybe once a week. What do you think???
Thanks,
Char
My mini AV's and there new home :o)
Their as cute as can be ! I do know they grow much better with drainage holes. ?? I grow lot's of mini's but I put them in 2 inch never larger than 2.50 pots wicked inside the cups and pots and cute containers I find ! I love cute containers :)) Wish I had more window shelves.
Please let us know how yours do :))
Growing them in a one inch pots have got to be one of my favorite ways :))
allison she should have some like i sent you...char you SHOULD lhave drainage holes...usually a small bit on a drill would do it...perhaps like on glass put some water on the bottom while drilling....i think they would be ok....
allison speaking of this topic..i meant to ask you...are those cups i sent you practical to use at all....thought they might be easier to "squeeze"..than hard plastic....or do you think they're not strong enough?....be honest with me...you won't hurt my feelings...bob
Wellll I use them some how. But they would get soggy after awhile with leaves or plants in them.
Who's Squeezing pots ? lol
You said to be honest :))
Char, I have a lot of mine in cups and other containers, but I treat any container with no hole like it is just a big saucer... I find a plastic pot that fits inside the container nicely, and I plant my AV in the pot. If the container is deeper than the pot, I put some gravel on the bottom to raise the pot up a little. When I water each week, I just put half an inch of water into the container and let the pot soak up as much as it wants... if there's more than a little left after 15 minutes, I pour out the extra.
That's what I do - I never let them sit
me three :)
