Anyone have any ideas ...

Sour Lake, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm in Southeast Texas and I am trying to design a flower bed that is 10' x 20'. The front half gets lots of sun
and I'm wanting to plant some white daisies in the front half. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on
combinations to plant with the white daisies.

Since the bed is so large I have quartered the bed so that it will be eaiser for me to design and plant. I just
love white daisies and thought I would start with that. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?????

What about natives? There are lot of good natives out there - ironweed, frostweed, lantana..

There are also Daylilies, roses, sunflowers, sagebrush...

There are a lot of other ideas in the back on my mind but what kinda of plants and look are you going for?

I guess I'm not sure what look I have in mind. And as for as plants not sure about that
either!!! WOW I guess I really do need help with some ideas. I have been looking
at pictures in magazines and haven't found very many with daisies. I have a clean slate
to work with since I don't have anything growing there yet. Last summer we bordered
it with rock and put mulch in it.

I do like the look of cottage style or wildflower style if that makes any sense. Thanks
for your input.

This site, of a familiar person on the Texas forum, has a lot of natives that may give you some ideas!

I would look up frostweeds pics in the 10 Texas native threads. If you are into the wildflower garden you are going to love her gardens. There are a lot of great natives on her site TexasStar - you are going to just love everything she has on there! Her site will give you lots of great ideas... The cottage look, this is a great idea and I would tell ya to plant a good row of bushes in the back on the bed and then Daylilies, Natives, and some great prenns... Both ideas would be great together and you can even mix them together into a great garden. I cannot wait to see everything come together for you.

TXBB, your bed is very pretty. I love the colors you have. They look like they are really healthy. Give us a picture later in the Spring when they fill in, I would love to see how it progresses.

TXBB, PRETTY, plus I can smell it from here. In your new bed, I would like it if you would try the new (to me) trailing purple lantana. I saw it this weekend, may have to try it myself if I can find a SPOT!! ( : jackie

LOL ok I sure will Dave. I found some last weekend at Houston Garden Center
and bought a few of them. Thank you for your compliment of my purple bed
and for the suggestion. I am ALWAYS opened any and ALL!!! Here are a
couple more pics from that same bed.

TXBB,
All of your flowers are beautiful. I'm with Shelia, they look so healthy. How do you get them that way?

I really like your purple bed.
I love daiseys, coreopsis, and batchelor button combination myself.
I would keep an old blue speckled coffee pot filled with these year round if I could.

Deadhead, deadhead, deadhead!!!! Right now with what flowers I have blooming
I deadhead about an hour to hour and half EVERY day. But this is a good thing
for me, I truly enjoy doing it. It makes me slow down and look at each and every
plant and see their true beauty and also it is the first line of defense if anything is
wrong with them. It truly calms me down and gets me ready for my next gardening
chore/task. And of course I have to give some credit to MG!!! Thanks everyone.
