You have very beautiful collection. Have you kept them in the GH or these are just under shade?

Kathy_Ann,

Looks like your unnamed cane may be 'Torch'. The bloom color doesn't look quite right but it depends on your light levels I suppose.

Is Elkhorn a form of aconitifolia?

Butch

Kathy your plants are wonderful ! Do you grow them inside ? A Nursery ?
I do love Elkhorn ! WOW :))
Sorry your lost your Elkhorn plant Lali :((

Ali, you have about half a dozen begonias arriving tomorrow or the next day. I think I sent you a b. digswelliana and Essie Hunt too, 'Irene Nuss' and a few others. Cant remember exactly what I boxed up.

I'll look for an Elkhorn when I go to the begonia show next month, shouldnt be too hard to find.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

WOW thanks much ! I only have a few Begonias but love them. Not much room for them. Lot's of them live outside here either on our deck or in the ground. Our home has been over taken by African violet, Epsicas, Chiritas, Streps, and some Begonias too . Yippee !

Thanks everybody for the compliments,

Thanks Butch for the ID on Torch, that does sound like a familiar name to me. I have no idea if the Elkhorn is a form of aconitifolia. Sorry I can't help with that, It came from flower junkie, she might know though.

I grow them all inside the greenhouse. I move some to the back porch during the summer time, they do quite well with the half sunhalf shade

I too only had a few begonias till I traded with Begoniacrazy. she just stocked me up. I'm blessed with some beauties now.

Butch, It does look like aconitifolia/sceptrum, one of the parents
of all the superba canes.

Great collection!! Elkhorn is a must have!! All my angelwings hated the winter outdoors. I lost some I fear. That will teach me.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Kathy,

Looks like you are on your way with a collection there. Be careful - it becomes habit forming.

Begoniacrazy (ii) is probably more addicted to them than me. I have a few from her as well.

patootie,

I thought elkhorn (can't find that name in the ABASTRO database) looked similar to aconitifolia. I had a chance to pick one up last year at the annual begonia show and sale in Miami but I passed it by while looking at other plants for sale. When I came back to it, some lady just bought the last two, darn it. You snooze, you lose. One thing I learned about that trip is to go to the sale first and then view everything else last.

I don't know about that Butch, I've seen your basement photos! LOL. I'd say we're in the same sinking boat! he he he.
at least I haven't turned you on to the 'dark side' (african violets) - yet...

These last few days of Faux spring have my plants bushing buds, leaves and some are in full bloom. (it was like 75º in my office, and when I opened the doors to my greenhouse my thermometer was pegged at 120º - I had to throw the fans on and open it up so those poor babies could breathe.

My brug is busting out with a whole new flush of buds.

p.s.
(happy birthday Kell!!!)

Thank you, Lali. I am 21 now. I am still trying to figure out how to get to you Saturday.

I have been looking at AV now where ever I go. I am putting up my no hex fingers.

I think we should see if we can get Longs to order from that great begonia grower you had posted Lali when this forum was started.
