Sarah could not keep her eyes off the new fish last night! I took lots of shots of them and thought I'd post them here.

How we came to have them is kind of cool. I found a classifieds ad on Petfinders.com for some tropical fish: 4 African cichlids and 2 big 12" plecostomus for a $15 adoption fee. We have a 50-gallon tank with one lone gourami in it and could not pass that up, especially given how much algae we had.
Though we normally would not mix them, right now we had no choice. That gourami is large enough that the African cichlids are not going after him so far. He swims around with them sometimes.
My tank is cycled and established, but only had one fish in it (and lots of algae). I was concerned about the tank being overloaded so quickly with the newcomers, so I asked for the filter pad from their tank's power filter since she was dismantling it to move. That should give it a good jump start along with normal water changes.
