I've already started on seeds for this summer. What better way to lighten the February blahs.
So far, I've started some Brugmansia seeds with hope in my heart for some beauties. The seeds came from several of the growers and hybriders here on DG, and they're germinating (I hope) as I write.
I placed an order with Gardens North for some baptisia, lead plant (amorpha), poppies and yucca (which I haven't grown before but would like to try).
Now I'm drawing up an order for Veseys, mostly for container plants. Some favourites include schizanthus, heliotrope, evening-scented stock, reseda odorata (mignonette), larkspur, lavatera; and I'm going to try their grape tomato ('Sugary'). I might place an order with Solana Seeds for a few tomato varieties too.
I can't seem to find a source for lantana. I grew this once before and it was very successful. Any ideas? I'd like to try it again.
I usually restrict my home-seeding to things I can't get in nurseries; otherwise my house would be taken over by seed trays!
What are YOU starting from seed this year?
Seed orders for the coming season
Too many to list (166 different) LOL! This does not include cuttings that are overwintered... am I crazy? LOL!
I am mainly in hummingbird flowers.
About lantanas, I heard that the seeds have to be very fresh to get them to sprout. I know that T & M are selling some, I do not know about canadian cies though. I do have some cuttings I am willing to share if you cannot find some in a garden center near your home (yellow turning orange, yellow turning pink, and a yellow one with variegated foliage which must be "Aloha").
Swallowtail Garden has Lantana seeds.
Have you seen the Miss Lucy Lily at Vessey's? It's wonderful. Expensive, but only available from the online site and likely in very short supply. I order a few of them last week.
Booswalia,
I just checked on the Vesey's site and I could not locate the lily you were talking about. Where is it listed?
Thanks
Michelle

Arlette,

Hi there, I have to pick up one plant to Patrick Studio's office in MTL, if I can be of any help to somebody willing to pay for shipping...
Hi Andy, I have seen lantana (plants) at several nurseries that I frequent in the Toronto area. If you don't have any luck at your end feel free to email/dmail and I will see what I can do to help you out.
Grant
